SOTT Focus: The Corruptocracy

biden and hillary
Most political philosophy is just an elaborate justification for theft and fraud.

What's called the silent majority is really the ignored majority, who for the most part are happy being ignored. Their lives revolve around their families, jobs, friends, and community, not the media, publicity, polls, or politics. They're sick of elections well before they've seen their hundredth campaign ad, received their hundredth mailer, or ignored their hundredth telephone call. They know that politicians are phony and corrupt and make jokes about them, but hope that their rulers don't screw things up too badly, cross their fingers, and vote for the perceived lesser of two evils.

There's a shortage of blue-ribbon pedigrees, Ivy League degrees, and gold-plated resumés among the ignored majority, but a surfeit of hard-knocks wisdom and common sense. Benjamin Franklin said, "Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other." Everybody does foolish things, but by and large, the ignored majority learns from the dear school and puts its lessons to good use.

The gilded class denigrates those outside it: Hillary Clinton deploring the "deplorables," Barack Obama saying working-class voters, "cling to guns or religion," and Obama telling entrepreneurs, "you didn't build that." Yet, it consistently, almost invariably, demonstrates a complete lack of the common-sense street smarts found in abundance among those it disparages.

Best of the Web: Pepe Escobar: Make America Jeffersonian Again

biden and trump
The whole planet has every reason to be terminally puzzled at how all those lofty Enlightenment ideals Thomas Jefferson embedded in the 1776 Declaration of Independence ended up with... Trump vs. Biden.

Jefferson borrowed freely from Locke, Rousseau, Hume to come up with an eminently quotable Greatest Hits, featuring "self-evident" truths such as "all men are created equal", "unalienable rights", and that searing "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Well, Baudrillard would have dubbed the exercise a mere simulacrum, because in real life none of this uplifting rhetoric applied to Native Americans and enslaved Africans.

Still, there's something endlessly fascinating about these "self-evident truths". They actually radiated like Spinoza axioms, spawning abstract truths that can be extrapolated at will. Jefferson's "self-evident truths" ended up creating the whole, massive structure of what we define as "Western liberal democracy".

Huge lawsuits coming against COVID totalitarians and con-artists

Covid lawsuit
© Maica/iStock/Getty Images Plus
Totalitarians and con-artists who hyped and exploited the coronavirus panic to steal freedom and destroy livelihoods are in the crosshairs, facing the wrath of a team of high-profile international lawyers and doctors determined to seek justice. According to the attorneys involved, the coming tsunami of legal action against the COVID-19 tyrants within and outside government represents the biggest set of tort lawsuits in human history. The scientists and medical experts in the coalition contend that governments' response to the "pandemic" was beyond unjustified. Whether justice can be secured in courts across the United States and even in other nations, though, remains to be seen.

The effort to use the judicial system against the weaponization of the pandemic features a growing global coalition of doctors and scientists, all of whom are speaking out against what they view as a dangerous disinformation campaign to justify tyranny. The alliance, known as the "Corona Extra-Parliamentary Inquiry Committee" (Außerparlamentarischer Corona Untersuchungsausschuss, or ACU, in German), was formally created by four attorneys on July 10. It now includes well over 500 doctors and experts in multiple disciplines. They concluded that the draconian government measures against freedom are all out of proportion to the dangers posed by the Communist Chinese virus.

Comment: Rectification will be daunting. It requires a massive and coordinated global effort to bring down this house of cards, decree accountability and compensate the outcome. As Jean-Luc Picard would say: 'Make it so."

'Not the case at all': Kremlin lambasts Biden's assertion that main threat to US is Russia, wants further cooperation

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has rubbished claims by US presidential candidate Joe Biden that Russia is the greatest threat to the United States. The 77-year old Democrat told CBS that Moscow endangers the country's security.

"This is not the case at all," said Peskov. "We can only regret that hatred against Russia is being spread this way, and our country is depicted as an adversary."

Peskov's response comes after Biden told US TV show 60 Minutes that "the biggest threat to America right now, in terms of breaking up our security and our alliances, is Russia."

Biden has long been hawkish toward Russia, and has used the presidential campaign to tie US President Donald Trump to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In September, Biden called Trump "Putin's puppy," and accused the US president of not being tough enough on Moscow.

However, the Kremlin has consistently maintained that it wishes to improve relations with Washington, and has no preference for who wins the US election.

Comment: Playing it safe, good diplomacy or careful to not reactivate 2016 accusations, Putin offers a measured response.

Hunter Biden sought to avoid registering as foreign agent in Chinese business venture

Hunter Biden suggested setting up a shell company to do business with a Chinese firm in order to avoid registering as a foreign agent, and to be able to bid on contracts with the U.S. government, according to documents from May 2017 obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

A day after sending the message, Biden arranged a meeting between his father, Joe Biden, and Tony Bobulinski, one of the prospective partners in a deal with CEFC China Energy, a Chinese conglomerate whose chairman had links to the communist regime in Beijing.

Hunter Biden wrote to Bobulinski on May 1, 2017, according to a message obtained by the DCNF:
"We don't want to have to register as foreign agents under the FCPA which is much more expansive than people who should know choose not to know.

"No matter what it will need to be a US company at some level in order for us to make bids on federal and state funded projects."
Biden appeared to be referring to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) as well as the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). Biden did not explain in the messages why he thought the venture with CEFC would violate FARA or FCPA without the buffer of a U.S. shell company.

China to sanction US defense contractors supplying weapons to Taiwan

China said Monday that it will sanction U.S. defense contractors including Lockheed Martin and Boeing's defense division that are involved in Washington's sale of weapons to Taiwan.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said the sanctions will also apply to Raytheon Technologies, among other "relevant American individuals" involved in supplying weapons to the small democratic state, which China claims as a territory.

The State Department last week approved the $1.8 billion arms sale to Taiwan of three weapons systems including sensors, missiles, and artillery.

"In order to safeguard national interests, China decided to impose sanctions on the American companies that were involved in arms sales to Taiwan," Zhao said at a press briefing. Zhao said Beijing "firmly opposes" the arms sales, which "severely damage Chinese sovereignty and security interests." He called the sanctions "necessary measures" for "those individuals and companies who behaved badly in the process of the arms sales" and called on the U.S. government to "stop arms sales to Taiwan and stop any military interaction with Taiwan."

Beijing has yet to outline the details of the sanctions.

With the Hunter Biden exposé, suppression is a bigger scandal than the actual story

Mac shop

Unprecedented efforts to squelch information about a New York Post story may prove to be more dangerous corruption than whatever Hunter Biden did with a crooked Ukrainian energy company.

The incredible decision by Twitter and Facebook to block access to a New York Post story about a cache of emails reportedly belonging to Democratic nominee Joe Biden's son Hunter, with Twitter going so far as to lock the 200 year-old newspaper out of its own account for over a week, continues to be a major underreported scandal.

The hypocrisy is mind-boggling. Imagine the reaction if that same set of facts involved the New York Times and any of its multitudinous unverifiable "exposes" from the last half-decade: from the similarly-leaked "black ledger" story implicating Paul Manafort, to its later-debunked "repeated contacts with Russian intelligence" story, to its mountain of articles about the far more dubious Steele dossier. Internet platforms for years have balked at intervening at many other sensational "unverified" stories, including ones called into question in very short order:

Comment: We may think the suppression story is the bigger scandal, however, the information keeps on coming and will outdo/outlast/outweigh the suppression, if pursued fairly, timely and squarely. Suppression and scandal compose one side of the scale. Information and laws create the other.

Did Kamala Harris illegally campaign outside a polling place in Ohio?

October 24, 2020
Kamala Harris was campaigning in Ohio on Saturday. There's been a lot of buzz about her hot mic moment when she asked an assistant "Are we in Cleveland?" before addressing the crowd.

As amusing as that moment was, it was another moment during her campaign stop that should be getting all the buzz.

On Saturday night, Kamala Harris's Twitter account posted video of the vice-presidential nominee outside of the Cuyahoga County election office in Cleveland, where voters were waiting in line to vote early. In the video you can clearly see she's using a microphone to speak directly to voters.
"Thank you for voting and voting early. Your vote is your voice, your voice is your vote. There is so much at stake. Don't let anyone ever take your power. The power of your voice is so important. You are going to make the difference. You are going to make the decision about your future, about your family's future. It is through the voice of your vote. And you have the power. The power is with the people, and you know that. That's why you're standing in this line today. and I just came to say thank you."

Comment: New rules are 'for Democrats only' to be made up as they go. There is nothing standard about this election and the ramifications of it has only just begun. Desperate times require desperate measures only limited by the thought police.

'Resist the blackmail': French companies brace for Arab boycott after Macron's 'radical Islam' comments

France's largest employers' federation on Monday urged companies to "resist the blackmail" over a product boycott by Arab countries as a backlash widens over Paris's hardened stance against radical Islam.

French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to take the fight to Islamic radicals after the October 16 beheading of a history teacher who had shown cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed to pupils in a class discussion on free speech.

But his comments triggered protests in Muslim-majority countries at the weekend, with people burning pictures of Macron in Syria and setting fire to French flags in the Libyan capital Tripoli.

Emails reveal Biden family lobbied for 'nepotistic' presidential appointments AND received them

After the announcement of Schwerin's appointment to the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad, Owens emailed with Hunter to enquire if it was the same person. Or as she put it: "our Eric."

She followed up by asking how she could secure a position for herself or her mother, Valerie Biden Owens, to which Hunter replied:

"I don't know how much 2016 and nepotism plays into" the selection process.

Hunter Biden then pledged to consult with Joe Biden's Chief of Staff Steve Richetti about a potential appointment for his family members.

Roughly one year later, Valerie Owens was nominated by the Obama-Biden administration to be an Alternate Representative of the United States to the 71st Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The news flies in the face of the idea that Hunter Biden remained separate and apart from his father's work as Vice President - a claim often made by Joe Biden and his campaign.

Owens is the niece of Joe Biden, who, after a brief stint in the Obama White House joined Coca-Cola as a multi-million dollar lobbyist and government relations specialist.

Comment: It's Hillary Clinton all over again. Trust the media, Joe Biden is "not" a crook.
