Whoever funded and carried out the sabotage operation should shut up, Donald Tusk has said
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has urged those responsible for blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines to "keep quiet," as intelligence sources in Germany point to a joint Polish-Ukrainian plot to destroy the underwater lines.According to German media, prosecutors in Berlin issued an arrest warrant in June for a Ukrainian national known as 'Vladimir Z' in connection with the destruction of the pipelines. Working with a team of saboteurs, Vladimir Z is believed to have rented a yacht in Poland, sailed to a site in the Baltic Sea off the Danish island of Bornholm, and planted explosives on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.
German investigators filed a cooperation request with their Polish counterparts in the hope of locating the suspect, who is said to have been tracked to a location west of Warsaw before disappearing, German state broadcaster ARD reported.
In a post on X on Saturday, Tusk appeared keen to quash any attempts to investigate the attack.
"To all the initiators and patrons of Nord Stream 1 and 2," he wrote. "The only thing you should do today about it is apologise and keep quiet."

Donald Tusk's reaction to the speculations of Polish involvement is interesting, he could have kept quiet, but instead Prime Minister Tusk addresses the issue of the elephant in the room, by trying to close the door on it.
Imagine an interview:
Prime Minister Tusk, in a recent Tweet you wrote that "To all the initiators and patrons of Nord Stream 1 and 2," ... "The only thing you should do today about it is apologise and keep quiet." Could you name a few other cases where you would give the same advice? [Scandals in Poland and the EU?]
Prime Minister, you refer to the "initiators and patrons of Nord Stream 1 and 2". Who are they in your opinion, and if they asked for your advice, to whom do you suggest they apologize?
Comment to possible questions: If the initiators and patrons refer to the Germans and Russians who build it, Tusk apparently wants them to suck it up and apologize to Poland, America, Ukraine and others. If he by initiators and patrons mean those who planned and sponsored the sabotage, the question is why he condones destruction of infrastructure in international waters, worth billions.
2) The recent or renewed allegation that Poland had been involved was published in this article:
Poland probably involved in Nord Stream blasts - ex-German spymaster If one wishes to be critical about the source of the claim that Poland might be involved, one could say that August Hanning has been retired from service for almost 15 years, but he might have connections. From one page
there is:
From 1986 to 1990, Hanning was a secret protection officer at the West German Permanent Mission in East Germany. In this role, he was also responsible for exchanging prisoners for cash. In 1990 he moved back to the Federal Chancellery, where he became a close employee of the intelligence leader Bernd Schmidbauer. In 1996 he was appointed department head.
On December 17, 1998, he succeeded Hansjörg Geiger as President of the Federal Intelligence Service. During his tenure, the decision was made to move the BND from its traditional headquarters at Pullach to Berlin. Hanning was of the opinion that the secret service should also be locally close to the government, and commissioned a huge and conspicuous new headquarters in central Berlin.
On December 1, 2005, Hanning was appointed State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of the Interior, with responsibility for police matters, internal security, migration, integration, refugees, European harmonization, crisis management and other things. He was pensioned on November 10, 2009. His successor was Klaus-Dieter Fritsche.
Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq
In December 2002, Hanning wrote to the head of the CIA, George Tenet, telling that the informant Curveball's information about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction could not be confirmed.[1] Nevertheless, US Secretary of State Colin Powell presented this uncertain source to the UN Security Council in February 2003 as the rationale for the Iraq war.
It is almost a certainty that people like August Hanning know that little goes on in Europe which the US does not have a finger in or is informed about. They also know that the Nord Stream sabotage was an operation on the level of the military, and that the countries including Germany work together. Someone in Germany very likely knew the sabotage was coming, but August Hanning does not go that far.
3) In the comments to the Tweet by Polish PM Donald Tusk, there was this video with clips of how the Nord Stream sabotage was spun in the early days to be the work of Russia. For many who did not follow the news later, that may still be the impression. Perhaps this aspect of the Nord Stream sabotage is worth recalling now that the West and Ukraine are working for creating some kind of radiological weapon/dirty nuke hoping they can stick it to Russia.

The former US president has turned to his 2016 "veterans" in a bid to boost his campaign against Kamala Harris.
Former US president Donald Trump has re-hired key members of his 2016 campaign team, hunkered down for debate prep with ex-Democrat Tulsi Gabbard, and tapped his sons and major donors to lead his official transition team, as polls show the Republican neck and neck with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump and Harris are currently even in most polls, with Harris holding a lead of less than 1% over the former president, according to
data compiled by RealClearPolitics. Amid
rumors that Trump blames his campaign staff for the erosion of his four-point lead over President Joe Biden,
he has enlisted the help of ex-Democrat Tulsi Gabbard ahead of his upcoming debate with Harris, the
New York Times reported on Friday.
Gabbard, a former US Representative and vocal opponent of the Democratic Party's interventionist foreign policy, was credited with ending Harris' 2020 presidential campaign with a single debate performance. In the 2019 showdown, Gabbard eviscerated Harris' record as California's attorney general, slamming her for jailing thousands of marijuana offenders "and then laughing about it," for her use of prison labor, and for blocking evidence that would have freed innocent men on death row.
"There is no excuse for that and the people who suffered under your reign as prosecutor, you owe them an apology," Gabbard said, leaving Harris unable to respond.
Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the former president met with Gabbard. She claimed:
"Donald Trump does not need traditional debate prep but will continue to meet with respected policy advisors and effective communicators like Tulsi Gabbard, who successfully dominated Kamala Harris on the debate stage."
Comment: Gabbard advising is a stroke of genius. The rest of the 'proposed team' will have to prove their loyalty, alignment and usefulness to avoid repeating the pitfalls of Trump's former presidency.

The bloc's foreign-policy chief Josep Borrell has condemned attacks "terrorising" Palestinian civilians.
EU foreign-policy chief Josep Borrell has condemned the latest attack by Israeli settlers on a Palestinian village in the West Bank, threatening to propose sanctions on their supporters, including those in the Israeli government.
On Thursday, media reports emerged that
masked Israeli settlers had invaded the Palestinian town of Jit in the occupied West Bank.Nasser Sedda, a head of the town council told CNN that
dozens of invaders fired bullets, sprayed tear gas at the residents and set several buildings and cars on fire. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the assault, saying that the Israeli attackers had set fires and threw rocks and Molotov cocktails before being dispersed by Israeli security forces.
Comment: Warnings mean nothing to Israel. WARnings, however, are an entirely different story.
Israeli ministers who incite "war crimes" should face EU sanctions, the bloc's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, has said.
Borrell blasted two cabinet members - National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich - in social media posts on Sunday. He urged the government to "unequivocally distance itself" from remarks made by the two regarding the military operation in Gaza.
Earlier in the day, Ben-Gvir criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for considering a US-endorsed ceasefire and urged increased pressure on the militant group Hamas, as well as the rest of the Palestinian population of the besieged enclave:
"If we cut off their fuel, within a week they would be on their knees. And if we stop the [aid] trucks, within two weeks they would be on their knees. So why are we going to do a deal, especially such an irresponsible deal?"
Smotrich previously claimed that starving 2 million Palestinians is morally justified and lamented Israel's need for international legitimacy to conduct its war in Gaza:
"No one in the world would let us starve the Palestinians. You cannot fight Hamas with one hand and give them aid with the other."
In a post on social media, Borrell urged the Israeli government "to unequivocally distance itself from these incitements to commit war crimes," and to engage in ceasefire negotiations mediated by the US, Qatar, and Egypt.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk reacted to Smotrich's remarks by saying:
"The starvation of civilians as a method of warfare is a war crime. This direct and public statement risks inciting other atrocity crimes. Such statements, especially by public officials, must cease immediately, they must be investigated and if found to amount to a crime, must be prosecuted and punished."
Washington has been urging Netanyahu to accept a ceasefire deal. In his public remarks, Smotrich "essentially suggests that the war ought to go on indefinitely without pause," White House National Security Adviser John Kirby said last week.
Both Smotrich and Ben-Gvir represent the right-wing of Netanyahu's coalition government.
As war becomes the way of life, the way of life becomes a war.

The FBI allowed the cremation of the alleged shooter's body, a US Congress member has said.
Releasing the remains of Thomas Matthew Crooks, who tried to kill Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump last month, to his family for cremation
appears to be a cover-up, US Congressman Clay Higgins has claimed.Crooks was killed by the US Secret Service on July 13 after he opened fire on Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He managed to kill one bystander while injuring Trump and two rally-goers.
Higgins is a Louisiana Republican with background in law enforcement, and a member of the congressional Task Force established to investigate the attempted assassination. He traveled to Butler earlier this month to examine the crime scene. His
report on the trip was made public on Thursday.
"My effort to examine Crooks' body on Monday, August 5, caused quite a stir and revealed a disturbing fact. The FBI released the body for cremation 10 days after J13. On J23, Crooks was gone. Nobody knew this until Monday, August 5, including the County Coroner, law enforcement, Sheriff, etc."
Higgins noted:
"The county coroner would have never released Crooks' body to the family for cremation or burial without specific permission from the FBI.
"Such actions by the FBI can only be described by any reasonable man as an obstruction to any following investigative effort."
Comment: According to Higgins, any further discernments regarding this aspect of the case are literally up in smoke.

A witch hunt is underway in America ahead of the presidential election, Russia's ambassador to Washington has said.
Freedom of speech in the US is only permitted for those who express pro-American views, while dissenters are subjected to a "political inquisition," Russia's ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, has claimed. The diplomat was commenting on an
FBI search at the home of Russian-born US political analyst and author Dimitri Simes in Virginia, on Tuesday.
Simes, a critic of President Joe Biden's administration, has been co-hosting a geopolitical talk show on Russia's Channel 1 since 2018.The targeting of Simes is another example of the "witch hunt" taking place in the US in the run up to the presidential election on November 5, Antonov wrote in a post on Telegram on Saturday.
"Hundreds of people are declared undesirable just because they dare to contradict the policies of the administration. They are forbidden from having their own point of view and government agents are breaking into homes, performing searches and seizing documents.
"The local ruling circles have decisively embarked on the path of total censorship. Freedom of speech in modern America is sacred only if this speech is pro-American. All dissidents are subject to political inquisition, especially when it comes to those who fight against one-sided and biased views on Russia."
According to the ambassador, the situation in the country resembles the "dark times of McCarthyism," a campaign against suspected communists led by Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.
Comment: Simes subjected to
FBI home search and government intimidation:
The FBI has executed a search warrant at the home of Russian-born US political pundit and author Dimitri Simes, who has been a vocal critic of the administration of President Joe Biden.
The search took place on Tuesday on the property located in Rappahannock County, according to a local news outlet.
The author's son, Dimitri Simes Jr., described it as "a bandit-like intimidation attempt" by the US government in a statement released on X (formerly Twitter).
In an email on Wednesday night, FBI spokesperson Samantha Shero declined to comment on the raid, except to confirm that it had been authorized by a court, Rappahannock News has reported.
A former aide to Richard Nixon, Simes is a naturalized US citizen who immigrated to the country in 1973. He was described by US media as providing "a sympathetic platform for the Russian government in the heart of the DC policy establishment," after Senator Rand Paul named him as a foreign policy adviser in 2014.
In 1999, he published a book on Russia's search for a new place in the world following the collapse of the USSR.

A victorious country would never use such a weapon, Gunnar Beck has argued
The West could secretly be helping Ukraine to make a so-called 'dirty' nuclear device to potentially use against Russia, Gunnar Beck, a former member of the European Parliament for the Alternative for Germany party, has told RT.
In an interview on Saturday, Beck commented on a report by Russian military journalist Marat Khairullin, who claimed that Kiev was planning "a nuclear false flag - an explosion of a dirty atomic bomb" which would target "storage sites of spent nuclear fuel of a nuclear power plant."
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has categorically denied the claim, calling it "dangerous lies."
Comment:
1) Gunnar Beck comments on the news that was discussed in this article:
Ukraine preparing 'dirty nuke' attack - media2) In 2022, there was:
In the span of a few hours on Sunday, the senior-most Russian defense authorities — Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and General Gennady Gerasimov — called their counterparts in the U.S., U.K., France, and Turkey, with the same message — Ukraine is preparing to detonate a so-called "dirty bomb" — high explosive-wrapped radiological material, designed to contaminate large areas with deadly radioactive isotopes.
Russia is not only concerned about the immediate impact of Ukraine detonating such a devise in terms of the harm that would be done to people and the environment, but also about the potential for such an event to be used by Ukraine's western allies to directly intervene militarily in the ongoing conflict, similar to what occurred in Syria when allegations about the use of Sarin nerve agent by the Syrian government against civilians were used by the U.S., U.K., and France to justify an attack on Syrian military and infrastructure targets. (It turned out that the allegations of Sarin use were false; the jury is still out about the use of commercial chlorine as a weapon.)
Russia is to raise the matter at the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
In return, Western governments on Monday accused Russia of plans to deploy a dirty bomb. "We've been very clear with the Russians ... about the severe consequences that would result from nuclear use," said U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price. "There would be consequences for Russia whether it uses a dirty bomb or a nuclear bomb."
The above assessment is probably valid also now. In order for some of the more war eager Western Governments to justify to their populations official military presence in Ukraine and the subsequent losses, they need a justification that they can sell.
3) For two years Ukraine has shelled the nuclear powerplant in Zaporozhye from time to time. On the webpage of the International Atomic Energy Agency led by Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, there are many updates and press releases about Ukraine, see this
search. The following example is from the latest press release:
Update 245 - IAEA Director General Statement on Situation in Ukraine
The nuclear safety situation at Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is deteriorating following a drone strike that hit the road around the plant site perimeter today, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said.
"Yet again we see an escalation of the nuclear safety and security dangers facing the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant. I remain extremely concerned and reiterate my call for maximum restraint from all sides and for strict observance of the five concrete principles established for the protection of the plant," said Director General Grossi.
Earlier today, the IAEA Support and Assistance Mission to Zaporizhzhya (ISAMZ) team was informed by ZNPP that an explosive carried by a drone detonated just outside of the plant's protected area. The impact site was close to the essential cooling water sprinkler ponds and about 100 metres from the Dniprovska power line, the only remaining 750 kilovolt (kV) line providing a power supply to ZNPP.
Where that drone came from is an unknown, as always. One can blame the IAEA, but considering that many press releases, it has also not been much of a topic in the media of the Western supporters, there has been hardly any interest, which of course makes the scare effect so much better if Ukraine and allies eventually pulls it off in a substantial way. Recall MH17, and the Nord Stream sabotage, the conclusion is given beforehand, even if they pulled it back a bit on the Nord Stream sabotage after a few days.
Below are a few headlines related to Ukraine, IAEA, and dirty bombs. Together they give a perspective where the current story is coming from and what the potential is:

Berlin could halve its military assistance to Kiev in 2025, the newspaper claims
German Finance Minister Christian Lindner has issued a request to the country's defense ministry calling for a limit to military assistance to Ukraine, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) reported on Saturday. According to Lindner, the country's current budget plan is not capable of allocating funds to Kiev.
The request was made in a letter addressed to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, and specified that only military aid that has already been approved can be delivered to Kiev. Additional applications from the defense ministry will no longer be accepted, even if issued at the behest of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Comment: Germany sends weapons and money to Ukraine which Ukraine then uses to lose more territory and people. That is neither a win-win, or a zero-sum game as far as Germany and Ukraine are concerned. Are the Ukrainian and German Governments both waging wars against their own people?

A false flag operation using radioactive warheads is reportedly aimed at spent nuclear fuel
Ukrainian forces have begun preparations to target nuclear waste storage sites at a Russian power plant with radioactive warheads and to then blame Moscow, according to intelligence received by Russia.
Kiev's forces have already struck the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Europe's largest, and started a fire at one of the cooling towers, while accusing Russia of bombing itself."Sources on the other side report that the
[Ukrainians] are preparing a nuclear false flag - an explosion of a dirty atomic bomb," military journalist Marat Khairullin said Friday on his Telegram channel. "They plan to strike the storage sites of spent nuclear fuel of a nuclear power plant."

The Chinese Defense spokesperson reveals that the US has the biggest nuclear arsenal in the world and follows policies that encourage its use.
America is the country that poses a threat to the globe
in the event of a nuclear war, China's Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang told reporters on Friday. Beijing has accused Washington of making "irresponsible decisions" in attempts to maintain its hegemony, including by intimidating the international community with its nuclear arsenal.
Washington and Tokyo played the "China military threat" card to justify their move, according to Zhang Xiaogang, who stressed that such actions only "provoke bloc confrontation and undermine regional peace and stability."
With the "largest nuclear arsenal in the world" and a strategy that permits the first use of nuclear weapons, the US "poses the biggest nuclear threat to the world," the spokesman for the Chinese Defense Ministry relayed.
Comment: One might consider nuclear-armed Israel to be a greater threat - then again, finding a real difference in policy, and diplomacy, between Israel, the US, and the UK, these days is rather difficult. Perhaps Israel seems to be less of a nuclear liability because, given its size and the proximity to those it would use it against, it's simply less feasible; and not that it's leadership are sound of mind.
That said, whilst both Israel, the US, and the West more generally, pose the greatest threat life on the planet, it seems that, given how many nuclear armed nations there are now, and the inevitable retaliation the armed multinodal powers would unleash, it seems unlikely that an attack, akin what Japan suffered, will occur anytime soon:
