Experts issue warning over arms for Ukraine

The US does not have an "infinite supply" of weapons and munitions to send to Kiev, analysts told CNBC.

Washington may not be able to support Ukraine in the conflict against Russia "for as long as it takes" due to a shortage of the industrial capacity needed to replenish munitions and weapons it sends to Kiev, CNBC reported on Wednesday, citing military analysts.

Jack Watling, an expert at the Royal United Services Institute in London, was quoted by the news network as saying:
"There is a point where... the Ukrainians will need to be cautious about their rate of expenditure and where they prioritize those munitions, because there isn't an infinite supply."
The problem reportedly stems from the structure of military production in Western nations, particularly the United States, which was tailored for peacetime and cannot sustain a protracted draw on stockpiles during a major armed conflict, such as the one in Ukraine.

NATO 'not obliged' to assist Ukraine — German ambassador

Germany's permanent representative to NATO has explained that the US-led bloc is not obliged to offer direct military assistance to Ukraine. Ruediger Koenig added that its members want to avoid a major war.

He was speaking to Dein Spiegel, the youth version of Der Spiegel magazine, which published the interview on Saturday.

The Ukraine conflict dominated much of the article, with Koenig describing Russia's decision to launch its offensive against its neighbor in late February as a watershed event.

"We had peace, and now we see all of a sudden that one country is attacking another one just like that, in Europe," the official said, adding that no one could have imagined anything like that.

Germany's representative to NATO stressed that the military alliance as a whole, however, has no legal obligation to help Kiev repel Moscow's attack as Ukraine is not a member state. This means that Article 5 of NATO's treaty cannot be activated, the official explained. Under it, an attack on one ally is considered to be an attack against the whole of NATO, with all member states having to stick up for the targeted nation.

Peter Schiff: The Bank of England rings the Mother of all bells

big ben
Last week, the Bank of England suddenly pivoted. It gave up its inflation fight to rescue its pension funds and bond market. What exactly happened? And what does it tell us about the Federal Reserve's inflation fight? Peter Schiff explained it all on his podcast.

There is an old expression — "No one rings a bell" — meaning there's no warning when there is a major top or bottom in the markets. But Peter said there often is a bell but nobody hears it. Last week, Peter said we got the "mother of all bells."
It was literally Big Ben that rang because the bell was in England. ... The Bank of England was the first major central bank to blink in this global game of chicken."

China, Taiwan and the sanctions trap

taiwan flag
Taiwan and its Western partners, including the US and the EU, are discussing the possibility of imposing pre-emptive sanctions against China to deter any possible future invasion. Sanctions, as a policy, have not been effective historically in achieving desired changes. In the case of China, any pre-emptive sanctions would likely fail to prevent a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, and backfire on those seeking to implement them.

As the US and China continue to engage in a test of wills regarding the future of Taiwan, the Taiwanese government is pulling out the stops to encourage its Western partners to pursue a policy of sanctions-based deterrence to forestall any future Chinese military aggression against the island nation. The US is considering implementing targeted sanctions against China to pre-empt an invasion of Taiwan, with the EU also reportedly considering the matter. Taipei recently hosted a diplomatic gathering in Washington, DC, where it lobbied 60 parliamentarians from Europe, Asia and Africa to pledge to adopt economic-based deterrence policies.

Iran names the US and Israel as the countries behind riots

Anti-government unrest was "a design" of Washington and Tel Aviv, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said

In his first public statement following weeks of violent protests across Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused the US and Israel of inciting the unrest, with the help of "traitorous Iranians abroad."

"I say explicitly that these riots and this insecurity were a design by the US and the occupying, fake Zionist regime and those who are paid by them" Khamenei told graduating officers art a police academy in Tehran on Monday. The Ayatollah also blamed "traitorous Iranians abroad," arguing that the US and its allies feel that Iran "is progressing towards full-scale power and they can't tolerate this."

Protests erupted in cities and towns across Iran more than two weeks ago, following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody. Amini had been arrested for wearing an "improper" hijab.

Amini's family insists that she was beaten to death while the Iranian authorities claim that she died of a heart attack. A video released by law enforcement purportedly shows Amini collapsing in the lobby of a police station whilst standing alone.

While politicians and journalists in the West have expressed support for the protests, Tehran has alleged more direct involvement. After the arrest of nine European citizens last week for allegedly "plotting" riots, Iran's Intelligence Ministry claimed that the demonstrations were largely fueled by foreign citizens and members of the Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization, a group of Iranian dissidents currently operating out of Albania.

Comment: While the West claims to care about the women in Iran, they have no care for Palestinian women brutalized in Israel.

The family of Nohemi Gonzalez, who was killed in the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks, claims that YouTube helped aid and abet the spread of violent Islamic ideology.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to weigh in on whether tech companies should be allowed immunity over 'problematic' content posted by users.

The case at hand alleges that YouTube aided and abetted the killing of an American in coordinated 2015 terrorist attacks carried out by ISIS, which killed 130 people. The family of one of the victims, Nohemi Gonzalez, has argued that YouTube's active role in recommending videos overcomes the liability shield for internet companies enacted by Congress in 1996 as part of the Communications Decency Act.

Comment: Social media's protection under Section 230 provisions has allowed all kinds of mischief to prevail.

Russia faces 'Fourth European NATO Reich' - Zyuganov

Zyuganov

The Communist Party leader has compared the US-led alliance to Nazi Germany

Russia is currently involved in a confrontation with the "Fourth European NATO Reich," the Communist Party (CPRF) leader, Gennady Zyuganov, claims.

"We must be well aware that a new army has gathered against us. The Fourth European NATO Reich, where thirty countries united all their regiments and armies," Zyuganov said, effectively comparing the US-led NATO alliance to Nazi Germany, while addressing the State Duma on Monday.

With his remark, the politician effectively compared the US-led NATO alliance to Nazi Germany, also known as the Third Reich. During WWII, several European allies and satellite states fought alongside Nazi Germany, while its own military incorporated numerous volunteer units provided by other European nations.

Zyuganov made the statement as the Duma gathered to vote on the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as the former Ukrainian regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye, to Russia. The legislation was passed unanimously.

Comment: It is understandable why he comes to that conclusion given how much the West openly supports or willfully ignores the nazification of Ukraine over the years. Many European countries have happily sent mercenaries to fight alongside Nazi battalions and glorified the nazi battalion Azov in the fight in Mariupol. Perhaps WWII was just a trial run?

Will 2024 be 1984?

Biden FBI 2024
From branding parents speaking out against critical race theory and sexual ideology in schools as terrorists to the Mar-a-Lago raid, Attorney General Merrick Garland's radicalized Justice Department transforms pre-election political opposition into national security threats.

The infamous DOJ letter on schools was sent out a month before the gubernatorial election in Virginia, where the National School Board Association, not to mention much of the D.C. establishment, is based. Much as Garland's DOJ operatives feared, the school protests helped elect Gov. Glenn Younkin and nearly toppled New Jersey's Democrat governor in the bargain.

The Mar-a-Lago raid was carefully timed around the DOJ's day policy of avoiding politically sensitive moves 90 days before an election. The real election it has its eye on is in 2024.

And, if it has its way, 2024 will be the new 1984.

The Steele dossier, the Mueller investigation, the Mar-a-Lago raid, and everything before and after are part of the larger Spygate continuum which is marked by the use of national security tools to suppress the political opposition especially before and during elections. The claims of national security, whether they involve the Russians or classified documents, are just a tactic that allow Democrat officials to wield virtually unlimited investigative powers cloaked in secrecy.

The former Ukrainian regions made the choice to be with their "historical motherland," the Russian leader claimed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed thousands of people gathered on Moscow's Red Square on Friday evening, celebrating the beginning of the process to incorporate four former Ukrainian regions that voted overwhelmingly to join Russia.

Putin's emotional speech came just hours after he signed treaties on the inclusion of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, into the Russian Federation. The signing ceremony marked the start of the formal process of accession, which will entail the treaties being reviewed by the Constitutional Court and both chambers of parliament.
