Palestinians: The 'demographic' threat to Israel

Dan Shapiro

The "demographic" argument for a two-state solution is the expressed fear that Jews will become a minority in Israel, and so the "Jewish people" will lose a claim to sovereignty.

It is explicitly a racial argument about Jews being overwhelmed by Palestinian births, or voters, and it is one that ought to be very hard to advance in mainstream U.S. forums. The scholar Ian Lustick lately confessed his shame at making the demographic argument for a two-state solution. It was a "deal with the devil," Lustick said. "My mother would not approve."

Well- here are two leading American Zionist organizations that consider themselves enlightened but that have recently advanced that unseemly argument.

First, Israel Policy Forum issued a report in February on possible outcomes of the conflict signed by purported liberal Americans - Obama ambassador Dan Shapiro wrote the foreword, Shira Efron and Evan Gottesman wrote the report- that says it is "important" to consider whether Palestinians are becoming a majority in the land between the river and the sea, and in Israel itself, and offered observations of Jewish and Palestinian "fertility" rates as if that's an acceptable way to look at things.

In an interview, the freshly-minted presidential candidate talks abortion, the "spoiler" charge, and Joe Biden's flip-flopping, while insisting that 2020 is a "winnable race."

After a half-century of existence, the Libertarian Party (L.P.) this morning wakes up to a situation it has never before experienced โ€” with a sitting member of Congress proudly waving the Libertarian flag.

"I will be the first," Rep. Justin Amash (L-Mich.) told me late Wednesday night, just after announcing his candidacy for the Libertarian presidential nomination. "And I'm happy to do that."

Of course: The Shill-bot has endorsed #CreepyJoe for president, 'thrilled' for his campaign

Hillary Clinton has endorsed Joe Biden's White House bid, describing the presumptive Democratic nominee as someone whose caring and compassion is needed for a country reeling from the coronavirus pandemic.

In a virtual event Tuesday afternoon, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee and former secretary of state said she had come to know Biden's ability to build coalitions over their two-decade friendship.

"I am thrilled to be part of your campaign, to not only endorse you, but also help highlight a lot of the issues at stake in this presidential election," Clinton said during the event, described as "a virtual town hall on the impact of COVID-19 on women."

Referring to President Trump only as the White House "occupant" and someone who pretends to "play one on TV," Clinton said she wished Biden was president "right now."

Comment: Do the Democrats really think they are going to shoehorn this creepy, dementia-addled clown into the presidential nomination? Or, as many have speculated, will there be a last minute bait-and-switch? The Wicked Witch has courted nearly every serious potential presidential candidate A word of warning to Biden: Former Clinton adviser: 'Hillary thinks God put her on Earth to be president'

RT speculates on Killary's VP ambitions and reports on reactions to her endorsement of Biden. The sane among the electorate have responded with mockery and a collective 'God, no!':
Biden, 77, has emerged as the presumptive nominee after his only remaining rival Bernie Sanders gave him a full-throated endorsement earlier this month. The obvious explanation for Clinton's tweets is that she intended to endorse Biden as well - which is exactly what happened once the event started.

However, given his age and widespread concerns about his declining cognitive faculties, everyone has been on the lookout for hints of his pick for running mate, which Biden pledged would be a woman. Could it be Clinton herself?

Biden fueled that speculation by responding"I'm with her," one of Clinton's campaign slogans from 2016. Some outspoken Democrat activists seem energized by the idea.

Others, however, have been... less so.

The notion has generated a lot of enthusiasm among Republicans relishing a rematch of 2016, when Clinton was given 90-plus-percent chances of winning only to get wiped out by Donald Trump.

Responding to Clinton's quip about being excited, the Trump War Room tweeted back, "So are we."

Republican activists were quick to point out Clinton has been the "queen of sexual assault enablers," posting her photos Hollywood movie mogul - and now convicted rapist - Harvey Weinstein, disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner, and her own husband, former President Bill Clinton, whose legacy includes lying about an affair with a White House intern.

The 'town hall' turned out to be an awkward event featuring Biden and Clinton talking about the disproportionate effect of Covid-19 on women (the disease overwhelmingly tends to kill men), plagued with technical difficulties such as Clinton shouting her lines and both of them not realizing the cameras were live until about 21 seconds into the stream. It attracted fewer than 6,000 viewers.

SOTT Focus: The Farce and Diabolical Agenda of a 'Universal Lockdown'

prepping toilet paper
First comes the farce, an (almost) universal government lie around the globe about a deadly virus, WHO named COVID-19. The decision for a global lockdown - literally for the collapse of the world economy - was already taken at the WEF conference in Davos, 21 - 24 January 2020. On January 30, WHO declared COVID-19 a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). At that time, there were only 150 known COVID-19 cases outside of China. No reason whatsoever to declare a pandemic. On March 11, Dr. Tedros, DG of WHO converted the PHEIC into a pandemic. This gave green light for the start of implementing "The Plan".

The pandemic was needed as a pretext to halt and collapse the world economy and the underlying social fabric.

There is no coincidence. There were a number of preparatory events, all pointing into the direction of a worldwide monumental historic disaster. It started at least 10 years ago - probably considerably earlier - with the infamous 2010 Rockefeller Report, which painted the first phase of a monstrous Plan, called the "Lock Step" scenario. Among the last preparatory moves for the "pandemic" was Event 201, held in NYC on 18 October 2019.

US says 'prepared to recognize' Israeli annexation of parts of West Bank

The United States said Monday it was ready to recognize Israel's annexation of parts of the West Bank but asked Israel's government to also negotiate with the Palestinians.

Comment: "You must negotiate with the Palestinians (regarding the all the land you stole from them 70 years ago, and since, and everything that has resulted from that theft), and if you do so, we'll give you permission to steal more and make that theft official." Winning strategy, no?

"As we have made consistently clear, we are prepared to recognize Israeli actions to extend Israeli sovereignty and the application of Israeli law to areas of the West Bank that the vision foresees as being part of the State of Israel," a US State Department spokesperson said when asked if the US would allow Israel's new government to move forward with the process.

Comment: A demonic vision, perhaps...

The step would be "in the context of the Government of Israel agreeing to negotiate with the Palestinians along the lines set forth in President Trump's Vision," the spokesperson told The Times of Israel.

"The annexation would be in the context of an offer to the Palestinians to achieve statehood based upon specific terms, conditions, territorial dimensions and generous economic support. This is an unprecedented and highly beneficial opportunity for the Palestinians," the State Department spokesperson said.

Comment: In other words, in the context of an almost complete surrender to the thieves and jackals who stole their land and killed their people. Good luck with that.

The Trump peace plan unveiled earlier this year โ€” which angered the Palestinians and was rejected by much of the international community โ€” gave Israel the green light to annex settlements and the strategic Jordan Valley area.

Crises as opportunities: Will Trump make use of coronavirus?

The Coronavirus Pandemic much like any crisis, in a political sense, opens the doors for new opportunities. It seems as though governments cannot make major changes without a strong boot in the rear from some set of rough circumstances. Like it or not, political action requires a catalyst. Trump, the man who dreamt of Making America Great Again now has the big overarching excuse he needs to push his agenda onto the nation, but the question is just how can the President of the United States use this pandemic to his advantage?

Firstly, it is important to note that there is nothing inherently morally evil in exploiting a crisis for political gains, unless you were the one who created the crisis in the first place. Again it cannot be understated, crisis is the catalyst for sweeping political action, and we shouldn't blame anyone for striking while the iron is hot. Most people who do all the loud virtue signaling about tragedies being exploited by politicians seem to always go silent when the exploitation serves their interest. Let's all put on our big boy pants and accept that politicians, can, will and probably should use opportunities from dark days so long as they were not the ones who darkened them in the first place.

Comment: There's one quick win Trump would like right now, and the 'pandemic' could give him the opening:

Lies, half-truths & propaganda: Even during Covid-19 crisis, Britain's leading news source can't resist Russia-bashing

One of the side-effects of attaining any reasonable level of knowledge about Russia is that it's subsequently impossible to read most US/UK media coverage of the country without suffering a discomforting rise in blood pressure.

Viewed from here, it can seem like every Anglo-American mainstream media publication is printing reams of never-ending drivel about Russia. Of course, in reality, for the average joe in London or New York, Russia is barely even a consideration. It is just another nation in a long list of far-away lands, and naturally, people are more concerned about issues at home. Yet, media elites have a peculiar preoccupation with the country.

Take the Mail, for instance. The Daily Mail is Britain's most widely read title across print and online, which took the biscuit a few days ago with a piece so poorly compiled that you'd call it "a new low" - if the depths weren't plumbed with such regularity. As Russia hack-jobs go, this was painting-by-numbers, even featuring an appearance from the creator of the 'Gerasimov Doctrine' hoax.

Bipartisan pair of senators request FTC anti-trust probe into meatpacking industry

Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) have asked the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to open an antitrust investigation into the meatpacking industry and its potential to cause significant disruptions in the food supply chain.

The senators note that the beef industry is dominated by Tyson Foods, Cargill, JBS S.A. and Smithfield Foods, which processes 85 percent of all U.S. beef. Three multinational companies, Tyson Foods from the U.S., JBS from Brazil and Smithfield from China, process 63 percent of all U.S. pork products.

"Following a spate of COVID-19 infections among plant workers, in recent days these oligopolistic companies have closed three pork plants indefinitely, resulting in the shutdown of a staggering 15 percent of America's pork production," the senators wrote to the FTC, referring to Smithfield plants in Missouri, Wisconsin and South Dakota that have closed due to coronavirus outbreaks.

UK's coronavirus response is being led by a secretive, incompetent cabal

The clandestine scientific body SAGE, which has helped shape the British government's Covid-19 policy, has serious questions to answer about corruption, incompetence and chaos.

They were a mysterious cabal of individuals plotting behind closed doors, whispering about initiatives to implement on an unwitting British population.

Now the Scientific Advisory Group on Emergencies (SAGE) has finally been forced into the light.

Up until a few days ago, their identities were being kept secret because of an alleged fear of being lobbied. Their job is to meet twice a week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) to discuss Britain's response to Covid-19.

Comment: Whilst the coronavirus is evidently less deadly than the flu, what the author does accurately pin down is that the government have proven themselves to be corrupt as well as incapable of dealing with a crisis - even a manufactured one - and it's likely that when a real crisis comes along, we'll see much of them same, however the state of the country will be considerably worse and citizens will be in an even more vulnerable position than they are now.

N. Korea Unification Minister rejects reports of Kim Jong-un's illness as 'fake news,' 'infodemic'

Unification Minister Kim Yeon-chul on Tuesday rejected unconfirmed reports of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's illness as "fake news" and "infodemic," insisting he can say confidently there have been no unusual signs in the communist state.

Speculation about Kim's health spiked after he skipped an annual visit to the mausoleum of his grandfather Kim Il-sung on the late national founder's April 15 birth anniversary, the North's most important national holiday.

Media reports have since speculated that Kim might be seriously ill, but Seoul officials have disputed the reports, repeatedly saying there are no unusual signs found in North Korea and that Kim is believed to be staying in the country's eastern coastal town of Wonsan.

"It can be seen as a phenomenon of infodemic," Minister Kim said during a parliamentary foreign affairs committee meeting, referring to a recent deluge of unfounded rumors about the leader's heath. "We have intelligence capacity that allows us to say confidently that there are no unusual signs."

Comment: Trump recently weighed in on the speculation, and his comments suggest that he "knows something":
US President Donald Trump further fueled speculation about the health of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, telling reporters at the White House he had a "very good idea" of his condition but couldn't talk about it at this time.

"I can't tell you exactly. Yes I do have a very good idea but I can't talk about it now," Trump said Monday when asked about Kim's health.

"I just wish him well," the president added.
I hope he's fine. I do know how he's doing, relatively speaking.
[...] the president dismissed on Monday claims by North Korean state media that Kim had made a statement on Saturday, saying this couldn't possibly be true.

"I don't think so. No one has seen him. He didn't make a statement," Trump said. "He didn't say anything last Saturday. Nobody knows where he is, so obviously he couldn't have said it."

North Korean media said over the weekend that Kim had made a statement to workers in the coastal resort town of Wonsan. Moon Chung-in, a national security adviser to South Korea's president, also said on Sunday that Kim had been staying in Wonsan. Seoul firmly believes that Kim "is alive and well," the senior official said.

Trump made sure to remind reporters that the US would have been at war with North Korea had he not been elected in 2016. While he and Kim exchanged threats and insults early on, in 2018 Trump became the first US president to directly meet with a North Korean leader.
