Last year, readers were briefed on what was then the investigative phase into dark-money-funded NGOs and alleged foreign influence operations routed through far-left activist networks. These NGOs and activist networks advance anti-capitalist agendas, mobilize protests and riots to fuel unrest under the banner of toxic social justice, and have also served as a permanent protest-industrial complex designed to delay, deny, and destroy President Trump's pro-America agenda.

Fast forward to late spring, and there now appears to be a clear transition inside parts of the Trump administration from the investigative phase to the action phase.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent signaled just that during a Thursday press briefing.

This is the untold story of America's hidden role in Ukrainian military operations against Russia's invading armies.
On a spring morning two months after Vladimir Putin's invading armies marched into Ukraine, a convoy of unmarked cars slid up to a Kyiv street corner and collected two middle-aged men in civilian clothes.

Leaving the city, the convoy — manned by British commandos, out of uniform but heavily armed — traveled 400 miles west to the Polish border. The crossing was seamless, on diplomatic passports. Farther on, they came to the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, where an idling C-130 cargo plane waited.

The passengers were top Ukrainian generals. Their destination was Clay Kaserne, the headquarters of U.S. Army Europe and Africa in Wiesbaden, Germany. Their mission was to help forge what would become one of the most closely guarded secrets of the war in Ukraine.

One of the men, Lt. Gen. Mykhaylo Zabrodskyi, remembers being led up a flight of stairs to a walkway overlooking the cavernous main hall of the garrison's Tony Bass Auditorium. Before the war, it had been a gym, used for all-hands meetings, Army band performances and Cub Scout pinewood derbies. Now General Zabrodskyi peered down on officers from coalition nations, in a warren of makeshift cubicles, organizing the first Western shipments to Ukraine of M777 artillery batteries and 155-millimeter shells.

Comment: This article just goes to show how it was always a US/NATO directed war against Russia with the use of Ukraine as the dispensable cannonfodder. Nothing has changed in that regard and the support is very much there, despite the US under Trump saying otherwise.

May 29th 2026: Japan announces that it has sent 4 officers to this coordinating center in Wiesbaden. According to the Japan Times:
Japan will for the first time dispatch Self-Defense Forces officers to the Germany-based NATO command for its Ukrainian mission, the Defense Ministry announced Friday, in the latest example of stepped-up ties with the military alliance.

The ministry said it will send four officers to the NATO Security Assistance and Training Organization for Ukraine (NSATU) — a command headquartered in the German town of Wiesbaden and launched in July 2024 to coordinate planning and arrange the delivery of security assistance to the war-torn country.

The officers will work with others to coordinate the provision of equipment and training for the Ukrainian military following Russia's invasion of its neighbor in February 2022, while also serving as liaisons to partner nations.
It is said in the article by Japan Times, that the center in Wiesbaden only was launched in July 2024, yet the New York Times above shows that it was operating right at the beginning of the war and likely for some time beforehand.

Last week, much was said about Wiesbaden — and for good reason. This headquarters has truly become our secret weapon in coordinating with partners on operational planning and identifying the necessary resources for implementation. Today, I'd like to share a few behind-the-scenes details about how it came to be.

After the onset of Russia's full-scale aggression, military assistance from our international partners grew significantly. With it came a wide range of weapons and equipment - along with new logistical challenges, particularly in terms of delivery and maintenance.

To address these, we established a coordination center for military aid to Ukraine in April 2022. It was initially based at the headquarters of the United States European Command in Stuttgart, Germany. In time, this work was transferred to Wiesbaden.

As the war progressed, we came to understand that we needed more than just a coordination center — we needed a joint operational headquarters with our partners. A hub that could assess the needs for weapons and equipment based on the real-time planning of operations. This became especially urgent in the summer of 2022, when some partners began to question the necessity of certain weapons and types of ammunition for the Ukrainian front.

That's when the idea of an operations-focused logistics hub was born — one that could evaluate planned operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and, following NATO standards, determine the precise support required. With crucial support from the United Kingdom, this concept was brought to life. Wiesbaden gained a new strategic mission.

From that point on, Wiesbaden became the nerve center where operations were planned, war games were conducted, and supply needs were identified and communicated to Washington and European capitals.

This platform has since evolved into an exceptional mechanism for collaboration with our partners — one that helps ensure alignment on future military operations and the resources needed to carry them out.

When asked about taking 100 percent of Gaza, the Israeli prime minister said, 'First 70 percent. We'll start with that'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has given directives for the Israeli military to take control of 70 percent of the Gaza Strip, Israel's Channel 12 reported on 28 May.

"At this point, we are fully in control of 60 percent of the territory of the Gaza Strip ... and my directive is to get to ... 70 percent," Netanyahu said in Hebrew during a conference held by the Ein Prat Leadership Academy.

During the speech, one audience member shouted that Israel should take "100 percent" of Gaza. Netanyahu responded, saying that "We're going in order," suggesting this was the long-term goal of his government.

"First 70 percent," he says, "we'll start with that."

The United States is caught in a trap of its own making. It wants to preserve its unique position in world politics, while at the same time freeing itself from the growing burden that this position imposes. Yet Washington hasn't found any way to do so except by insisting, ever more loudly, on its own superiority so the result is that America clings more tightly to the very role it should have consciously begun to abandon long ago.

There's an old story from Uncle Remus's Tales, the famous collection by the American writer Joel Chandler Harris, in which Br'er Fox sets a black doll made of tar and turpentine by the roadside to trap Br'er Rabbit. The rabbit greets the doll, mistakes its silence for rudeness, grows angry and strikes it. His paw sticks so he strikes again, and the other paw sticks and the more furiously he fights, the more completely he is trapped.

This is increasingly what American policy looks like in its struggle to preserve hegemony. The US has become stuck to its own global role. It wants to escape the costs of maintaining that role, but every attempt to do so only entangles it further. In trying to defend the "tar baby" of global primacy, Washington is forced into ventures that are costly militarily and for its reputation.

As an inveterate leftie with an irrepressible intuitive sympathy for genuine, decent conservatives - that term excludes, obviously, gutless mainstream centrists - I am always looking for exemplars of this old and venerable political species. For one thing, they are much more fun to talk to than woked-out liberals, washed-out social-democrats, or hysterical warmongers of the German variety of (camouflage) Green.

Genuine, decent conservatives tend to have much to say - about, for instance, such vital things as religion, culture, and the family - that is well worth listening to, whether you agree or not. And unlike dour, doctrinaire, and frequently neurotic centrists, genuine conservatives often have the calm self-confidence that comes from being authentic, and thus they can afford tolerance and a sense of humor, even humility.

Alas, it seems that, in the West, such decent conservatives are if not on the verge of extinction, then at least seriously endangered. And, ironically, their worst enemies are not my sort of people, the often all-too-toothless left.

The compromise reached between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin on August 15th has still not materialized in Ukraine. The obstacles are not those the United States anticipated. Ukraine is not cooperating, while Germany and the United Kingdom want war.
President Donald Trump acknowledged to his counterpart Xi Jinping that he was his equal. Since World War II, every American president has considered himself superior to others because he was the most powerful and the wealthiest.

In contrast, from a Chinese perspective, Xi Jinping sees himself as the equal not only of Donald Trump, but of every other Chinese president. A Chinese person does not believe that having greater resources makes you superior.

This concept of a hierarchy between nations is purely Western. Therefore, the evolution of the US president should not be interpreted without considering the cultural context of the observer.

Even if Netanyahu and his right-wing allies are ousted from government, Israel's genocide in Gaza, ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, and the wars against Lebanon and Iran enjoy broad support across the Israeli political spectrum.

Israel might change its government sooner than expected after the Israeli Knesset voted to dissolve itself last week. The bill presented to the parliamentary body on May 20, which passed with a majority of 110 votes in favor and no opposing votes, could lead to early elections in September rather than November of this year. The vote was held in the absence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and is set to be reconsidered at three more readings before moving toward implementation.

If passed, the current Knesset will expire, along with the government coalition based on its composition and the current cabinet led by Netanyahu. According to Israeli polls, Netanyahu's main coalition allies, namely hardline ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, have low chances of winning. Although the two main opposition leaders, Naftali Bennet and Yair Lapid, joined forces in a new party, polls indicate that Netanyahu's Likud Party would still win 56 out of 120 seats in the Knesset. This leaves the Likud as the main political force in Israel, but without enough of a majority to form a government on its own, forcing it to form a coalition with other opposition parties.

North Korea achieves its first AI-guided missiles in test overseen by Kim

In a development that South Korea, Japan and the United States are likely to find deeply alarming, North Korea launched AI-guided cruise missiles in a test that analysts have described as the first of its kind for the sanctioned country.

The launch and test was overseen by Kim Jong-un early this week, and it was presented as part of his new military modernization and preparedness initiative which has been greatly hyped by Pyongyang over the last several years.

North Korea's goal is "to build the most modern and powerful artillery force which no one can match," Kim said according to state Korea Central News Agency (KCNA).

The army, he warned, should possess enough "destructive power" to make survival "impossible" for any enemy it strikes, the KCNA report continued.

Pushing toward 'suicidal conflict'

Russia is deeply alarmed about US plans to deploy thousands of additional troops to NATO's eastern flank member Poland, slamming reports out of Washington as unacceptable and portending an escalation in the Ukraine war.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing on Thursday that sending additional American soldiers to Poland "would result in escalation of tension across Europe" and that Moscow would be forced to take "retaliatory measures".

Given that some 5,000 troops are being moved there from Germany, she did acknowledge that reducing America's troop presence in Europe would overall be "rational, justified, and long-overdue" step toward stabilizing what she called an "imbalanced" security situation created by NATO and Western policies.
