Best of the Web: Authoritarianism in The Age of Pseudoscience

Big Agra
Following the court decision in the US to award in favour of Dewayne Johnson (exposure to Monsanto's Roundup weed killer and its active ingredient, glyphosate, caused Johnson to develop non-Hodgkin lymphoma), attorney Robert Kennedy Jr said at the post-trial press conference:
"The corruption of science, the falsification of science, and we saw all those things happen here. This is a company (Monsanto) that used all of the plays in the playbook developed over 60 years by the tobacco industry to escape the consequences of killing one of every five of its customers... Monsanto... has used those strategies..."

Comment: Actually, as this 'pandemic' has accidentally revealed, the science on tobacco was corrupted the other way, but the general point stands. Official science is corrupt beyond recognition as science.

Johnson's lawyers argued over the course of the month-long trial in 2018 that Monsanto had "fought science" for years and targeted academics who spoke up about possible health risks of the herbicide product.

Long before the Johnson case, critics of Monsanto were already aware of the practices the company had engaged in for decades to undermine science. At the same time, Monsanto and its lobbyists had called anyone who questioned the company's 'science' as engaging in pseudoscience and labelled them 'anti-science'.

Best of the Web: A deadly game: 'Protect the NHS' policies may kill more Britons than Covid-19

The policy of freeing up bed space in NHS Hospitals and encouraging people not to burden the health service has had fatal consequences, and is likely in the long-run to claim more lives than COVID-19.

'Protect the NHS'. It's a phrase we've heard ad nauseam in Britain the past few weeks, but has the slogan and the policies underpinning it, actually done more harm than good? The evidence strongly suggests it has. Rather than saving lives, it's actually claimed them in large numbers.

On 17th March, NHS trusts in England were instructed to 'free-up the maximum possible in-patient and critical care capacity'. That meant a large scale discharge of 'all hospital in-patients who are medically fit to leave' and stopping all 'non-urgent elective operations' for at least three months from 15th April at the latest.

How many of these sick patients, rushed out of the hospital to 'free up' beds for COVID-19 patients have subsequently died? This could help explain the sharp rise in non-COVID-19 excess deaths in early April.

Best of the Web: 'New normal' is WORSE than 'lockdown'

I am sorry but I won't be downloading Matt Hancock's new NHS app.

After being under effective house arrest for over seven weeks, is this surveillance app, that hasn't even passed the government's own guidelines, the best they can come up with?

'Test, track and trace' is just another meaningless soundbite that is meant to convince us that the Government know what they're doing.

This app won't even produce meaningful data unless infections fall from their present rate of 4,000 a day to under 1,000 and there's no real sign of that happening any time soon, is there? Are you willing to sign up to this app and give away your privacy on that basis? Because I'm not.

Now Hancock has the temerity to say it is your patriotic duty to download his surveillance app. What the hell has being patriotic got to do with a medical app?

Best of the Web: British govt, gaslighting subjects into totalitarianism, announces 'plan to slowly lift lockdown... by October. Maybe...'

boris johnson TV lockdown
'He would never deceive us, would he?' 'Who, Boris? No, he's a man of the people...'
Reports of the plan come after the United Kingdom became the first country in Europe to confirm over 30,000 deaths caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic that has plunged most of the world into lockdown.

Comment: This is horse-hockey of course. It's no coincidence that the countries with the two highest death tolls - the US and UK - are the two countries that sit atop the 'world order'. It just means they've been 'best' at shifting deaths from other causes into the Covid-19 column...

The British government has drafted a 50-page statement detailing a five-stage plan to lift the lockdown in the UK by October, The Mirror reported, citing unnamed sources in the government.

The plan is reportedly set to be announced on Sunday, come into force on Monday and last until the middle of autumn, despite officials fearing a second wave of coronavirus or an outbreak that could "blow their plan off course".

Comment: Did you catch that? They're saying the lockdown will be eased down to 'more-or-less normal' by October, BUT they reserve the right to maintain it at full-Hitler if and when they get the call from on high to ramp the numbers back up...

"It's a bit of a shambles. Nobody can quite agree what to do and when to do it. Somebody comes up with a bright idea, but the practicalities get in the way", the governmental source noted, cited by Mirror.

Comment: Phony leak intended to suggest 'our difficult decisions', when in fact they know exactly what they want to do and are merely prevaricating over how to sell that to people.

The anonymous official also noted that "we're not South Korea", apparently comparing the British response to the pandemic to that of South Korea's.

Comment: Among other things, this also means Brexit is not happening this year. (Or ever...)

What a jolly convenient phony plague the globalists have to play with.

Best of the Web: Coronavirus gives a dangerous boost to DARPA's darkest agenda

Technology developed by the Pentagon's controversial research branch is getting a huge boost amid the current coronavirus crisis, with little attention going to the agency's ulterior motives for developing said technologies, their potential for weaponization or their unintended consequences.

brain dna darpa
In January, well before the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis would result in lockdowns, quarantines and economic devastation in the United States and beyond, the U.S. intelligence community and the Pentagon were working with the National Security Council to create still-classified plans to respond to an imminent pandemic. It has since been alleged that the intelligence and military intelligence communities knew about a likely pandemic in the United States as early as last November, and potentially even before then.

Given this foreknowledge and the numerous simulations conducted in the United States last year regarding global viral pandemic outbreaks, at least six of varying scope and size, it has often been asked - Why did the government not act or prepare if an imminent global pandemic and the shortcomings of any response to such an event were known? Though the answer to this question has frequently been written off as mere "incompetence" in mainstream media circles, it is worth entertaining the possibility that a crisis was allowed to unfold.

Why would the intelligence community or another faction of the U.S. government knowingly allow a crisis such as this to occur? The answer is clear if one looks at history, as times of crisis have often been used by the U.S. government to implement policies that would normally be rejected by the American public, ranging from censorship of the press to mass surveillance networks. Though the government response to the September 11 attacks, like the Patriot Act, may be the most accessible example to many Americans, U.S. government efforts to limit the flow of "dangerous" journalism and surveil the population go back to as early as the First World War. Many of these policies, whether the Patriot Act after 9/11 or WWI-era civilian "spy" networks, did little if anything to protect the homeland, but instead led to increased surveillance and control that persisted long after the crisis that spurred them had ended.

Best of the Web: 'CBS This Morning' aired faked COVID-19 drive-through testing site line of cars

A CBS News crew pulled medical professionals off the floor at the Cherry Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to line up in their vehicles so a CBS film crew would have a long line for their COVID-19 coverage.

"Our insider witnessed the whole thing and came to Project Veritas, because he knew we would protect him," said James O'Keefe, the founder and CEO of Project Veritas.

"The insider told us that medical personnel were taken away from treating patients and making the line longer for actual patients wait for the COVID-19 test," he said.

In an interview with the insider, O'Keefe asked the insider: "You're telling me you're a hundred percent certain that CBS News, CBS News Corporation--national, staged a fake event. They faked the news. They faked the reality and broadcasted that to all of their audience last Friday on "CBS This Morning."

The insider said to him: "A hundred percent. Absolutely."

Comment: And that is not even the first time CBS has been caught making fake news to spread fear and panic about Covid-19:

Best of the Web: MH17: Trial by media is failing under weight of facts

Ward Ferdinandusse MH17 trial
On 09 March, 2020, Public Prosecutor Ward Ferdinandusse gives opening statement on MH17 case.
The MH17 wreckage was still burning when the Ukrainian secret service convinced western audiences that rebels had brought down the plane. However several persons that for years have been incriminated in the media are not suspected by the Dutch Public Prosecutor and are not standing trial.

Only six hours after the downing of MH17 the Ukrainian secret service SBU put a video on YouTube with tapped phone conversations from rebels in Ukraine, indicating that they had brought down MH17. The video was immediately picked up by the media, among which the Dutch evening news on July 17 2014. The SBU video got over a million views.

From then on the atmosphere was set. The rebels were to blame, and probably Russia too. No need to explore alternate scenarios incriminating for Ukraine. The media were mobilized to pick up any information that would confirm the rebels' and Russia's guilt, and to overlook contradicting intelligence.

Sweden likely had coronavirus cases as early as November last year, the country's virus chief has revealed.

State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell claimed individual cases would have been detected among travellers from Wuhan. He told Sweden's TT news agency: 'There wasn't any spread [of infection] outside Wuhan until we saw it in Europe later.

'But I think that you could find individual cases among Wuhan travellers who were there in November to December last year. That doesn't sound at all strange, but rather very natural.'

His comments come following reports that a hospital in France revealed it had re-tested old flu samples and found a positive test for coronavirus on December 27.

Best of the Web: Poll: Two-thirds of Americans doubt coronavirus death tolls

An overwhelming majority of Americans doubt official coronavirus death tolls in the U.S, a new poll shows.

Two-thirds of American adults doubt the official death tolls, according to an Axios poll published Tuesday. The poll found that 40% of Republicans believed that deaths are being overcounted, compared to 24% who believe they are being undercounted.

The results flipped dramatically when Democratic voters were surveyed, with 63% responding that death tolls were being undercounted, compared to just 7% who said they were being overcounted. The poll was included 1,012 U.S. adults, and has a margin of error of roughly 3.2%.

Comment: Maybe the American people aren't as stupid as people tend to believe. Given that the latest Project:Veritas exposé has Funeral directors blowing the whistle on fake coronavirus death reports, it's pretty clear the numbers are being fudged. It's just a shame that some can't see the direction they're being fudged in.

Funeral directors in New York are busting the fake coronavirus death certificates that state authorities are fraudulently assigning to people who have died this month.

New York authorities are desperate to make the pandemic seem far worse than it is to keep getting more federal financial assistance, and now they have been caught lying on death certificates to keep the cash rolling.

For instance, funeral director in Williston Park, N.Y., told Project Veritas that "Basically, every death certificate that comes across our desk now has COVID on it."

Comment: Color us completely unsurprised.
