The sunken anomaly discovered last year on sonar in the Baltic Sea is about to be investigated by deep sea divers and remote cameras. What will they find?

Here's the video that started it all:

While Swedish researchers Peter Lindberg and Dennis Asberg have avoided labeling the object as a UFO, they don't rule it out either.

Most scientists have speculated the object can be anything from a sunken Russian war ship to an emerging volcano. But the fact remains the mysterious object is worth a closer look.

The story started up last year when sonar images and video was posted to YouTube showing an anomaly at the bottom of the Baltic Sea which is rounded and massive.

It certainly looks man-made, rather than a natural occurrence, and the paranormal community immediately picked up the ball and started running with it.

Labeling it an ancient UFO proving that alien life does exist, and that extraterrestrials have visited Earth, is a bit of a stretch. But the two scientists are keeping an open mind.

"I don't think it's an ordinary stone formation, or cargo dropped from a ship," Lindberg said. "But it can be a lot of things. If it's not manmade, and was made by another form of intelligent life, it would be very lucky. I've never won the lottery before!"

The scientists will be getting underway in the next few days, heading out to the site on a ship they've named "Ocean X" as a tribute to the X-Files team of Mulder and Scully, fictional characters who uncovered shocking secrets about aliens which powerful governments were keeping for their own benefit.

What will they find? It's uncertain yet, but it has the potential to be one of the most important discoveries ever made.
