Uhhh, Canada dropped an estimated 10% of the bombs ($100M) and is contributing $10M to reconstruction. So don't just look south of the 49th parallel. Look into the hearts of the people of the West who are so wrappped in consuming that they have forgotten how to be human beings.
Thanks for that.
After I posted I got to thinking how dirty our hands might be and figured that probably we were in on it too
Here's a Wikipedia [Link]to an article on this larget ever engineering project.
And here's a quote from the article:
"The total cost of the project is projected at more than US$25 billion. Libya claims to have completed the work to date without the financial support of major countries or loans from world banks. Since 1990 UNESCO has provided training to engineers and technicians involved with the project."
Not bad for a madman dictator . . .
This behaviour cannot be tolerated, though it's happened before. The clearest example I remember is the destruction of Paraguay in the third quarter of the 19th century by a coalition of Argentina, Brasil and Uruguay. The instigator was England, and the reason was that proud and independent Paraguay (which sent its best students to study in Europe, paid by the state) would not allow British manufactured goods to flow in freely into the country, plus the fact that Paraguay controlled navigation in the upper reaches of the Parana, Paraguay, and Uruguay rivers. Unacceptable to the one-sided "free commerce policy" of the British Empire, and to the territorial ambitions of the Empire of Brasil. Obviously, we cannot let Libya behave like that either. They have to be quickly "democratized", before this "bad" example of caring socialism spreads any further. We've had more than enough of it with Sweden.
A guy I talke to thinks this is bull shit !!!
Seriously? Why did Gaddafi always spout off like a crazy fool when he got a mic? Why did he not lay out how he runs his country for all the west to hear and be jealous of at every chance?
Maybe he was crazy. Unlike our crazies, maybe he did more good then bad for his country.
Because the west's media is controlled by the PTB's "free press" (sarcasm).
Excuse my ignorance but what does"PTB" means? For the rest I generally agree with you all.

It is funny that people who never lived in Libya are second guessing the popular uprising that successfully removed a brutal and deranged dictator of 42 years. I am guessing that the people of Libya have a better assessment of what they had and what they instead needed. The circulating list is insinuating several less then attractive assumptions: 1. You ungrateful people of Libya! You had all these riches that other countries could only dream about! Just because you were ruled by a crazy madman who did not hesitate to massacre you, did you have to throw it all away? 2. Freedom is overrated. What matters is material well-being. If you are handed free money, shelter, education and healthcare, screw democracy and freedom. 3. Hey you Arab!! You filthy savages who eat their meal with their bare hands! How dare you, that you demand to have your own elections and democracy and such. Those are privileges reserved for white people in clean clothes and nice picket fenced homes. 4. Look at that! Weren't you subject of the Ottoman empire only 100 years ago? We own you, and your land. How dare you, you are asking for freedoms! And didn't you little Arabs stabbed us in the back, together with the imperialist West? You do not deserve anything but the Madman Kaddafi. Sit on your butt and continue to suffer. 5. Yes, your country has huge oil reserves and your population is very small. And that makes it very feasible to hand out bag loads of money to each citizen. But that Oil only appeared under your ground when Kaddafi came along 42 years ago and did his military coup thing and took over by force. And now that he is dead, you know what, that oil is now gone up in smoke. So, you just shot yourselves in the foot you ungrateful subjects. No oil, no money, no happiness, go now eat your democratic freedoms and let me know if it tastes any good.
big problem with any kind of socialism is that, that people did not have to march and fight on the street for some benefits and rights like did in western countries, where people developed strong frames which guarantees their rights...to people living in socialism everything is given by decret. people does not have to fight for. they dont have to LEARN,FIGHT and DEVELOP as society. so, they dont have to respect anything they have. their wishes are trapped in their personal development which is dependent of society artificial made. just small percentage of population can understand that usually, and understand a great risk of destroying everything for gaining nothing. Libian people just dont deserve benefits they had, and tragic figure of Gadafi who had to be dictator to push benefits for own people sometimes by force for decades. Maybe loved people of Libya, maybe not.Maybe loved only own vision of Libya, detached from reality. Maybe was not SO mad. watching how rebels fought, how treated him and killed him, how celebrated victory beheading 8 camels shows me clearly that they are uncivilized liars, very dangerous people, and West will soon realize that they "killed wrong pig". believe me, i lived in socialism and we also not deserved good life we had, and now we have exactly what we deserve.
. . . largely with myself and the reason is that I let myself uncritically believe what I heard thru lamestream media in respect of Gadaffi.
Now I didn't pay a lot of attention to what I heard as it seemed he was just another despotic tin-pot dictator and God Almighty who needs still more news about yet another one.
To think that he engineered a beautiful little country and that one and and all have had the living sh*t bombed out of them on the basis of meglomaniacal greed and barefaced lies makes my blood boil.
Today I am looking south of the 49th parallel with nothing more than disgust in my heart.
Perhaps not a great sentiment but there you have it . . .
