As creepy as it looks, no, it is not a scene from some gory movie.
Red water was discovered in Rattlesnake Creek Thursday in Norwalk in Ohio's Huron County.
Fire officials said rain washed the dye away from a closed powder-coating company. Machines were being moved from the company's buildings, and the rain mixed the dye with creek water.
Neighbors said it was an image they will not forget anytime soon.
"Everywhere we saw, it was just blood-red in color. I've never seen anything like it," said John Johnston, who lives near the creek.
The affected water was placed in a treatment plant holding area until authorities figure out how best to remove the dye.
The wastewater department said the dye is similar to food coloring and is nontoxic and biodegradable.

Call me naturally cynical, but I can't help but think the fire officials are just looking for a way to cover up what is more likely an red algal bloom, particularly as the nearby residents have never seen evidence of this type of run off affecting the creek before. If the run off scenario was on the money, I would think that such a thing may have happened in the past at least once and that local residents would remember such a thing.
Having recently just finished the book Cycle of Cosmic Catastrophes, and remembering Laura and Dr Gabriela's articles in the recent Dot Connector magazine, I can't help but think about the connection of comet dust and debris harbouring alien bacteria. The black mat discussed in the aforementioned book formed after the catastrophic conditions which wiped out much of the Clovis culture of North America and is said to be partly made up of a large and prevalent black algal bloom which spread throughout the waters and land of North America for roughly 1000yrs after a cometary airburst took place. So seeing something like this reminds me that we may start to see more of these unusual algal blooms of a variety of colours, in a variety of places, as the pollution from comet dust and alien bacteria that have already heavily loaded upper atmosphere begin to find their way to the surface. Whichever way you look at it, symbolically speaking, this is not a good sign.
