that there are so many of these socalled rare events recently. I happened to see one where I live just 2 weeks ago. I unfortunately didn't have a camera with me, but it looked like there was a second sun, one to the left of the real one. It was gone again a quarter of an hour later. Having read about it here and on spaceweather, I at least had an idea of what I was looking at...a possible sundog.
They are getting more frequent too. I am in Scotland and have seen five sundogs in the last eigth months and one moon dog.
Sometimes when you are mad you are really mad
definitely a sun dog, the rainbow hue on the side nearest the sun is a classic signature of a sun dog.
