Location of Sighting: On Freeway Near La Mesa, California

Description: I was driving on the freeway. The sun was to my right. The sky was clear with no clouds. I saw an object that was going straight up and moving very slow. At the top it was a very bright white. I pulled over and lowered my driver's window. I took the picture from my cell phone. Then it just disappeared all of it tail and light as seen in photo. The resolution on my camera was 2048X1536. I saw it for approximately 2 minutes. There were several people on the freeway looking, but no one pulled over that I know of. Any ideas of what it is?

Response to Investigator Questions: The object was just like the photo, but bigger. The cell phone makes it look smaller, but you can't see the tip in the photo. At first I could not see the bright light at the tip, but it was very bright and white. It did not seem like it was moving fast if moving at all. I am not sure how long it was there as I spotted it while driving. I pulled over, rolled the window down and took the picture. Then all of it just vanished. That is what was real strange as no tail left nothing. I have never seen anything like it.

Note: By the looks of the photo the object is a jet with visible contrails. The contrails do not extend out very far because they are probably evaporating in the dry atmosphere. However, the witness stated in a subsequent report that the object did not look like a jet. Also the "sudden disappearance" is unusual.
