The Representative of Azerbaijan said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalaf Khalafov said during the session Azerbaijan will hold opinion exchange with five Caspian countries and present its version of the project of security in Caspian Sea.
"At the last summit in Teheran the heads of the five Caspian countries recommended Azerbaijan to prepare the project of security in Caspian Sea with generalization of opinions and approaches of all parties. The project reflects the issues of security cooperation. It joins the interaction between boundary, customs services and internal affairs bodies," K.Khalafov said.
The Convention on Caspian Sea's legal status will be also under discussion.
"We will continue discussing complex questions concerning Caspian problems and we are making main efforts to reach the agreement on open questions. The project contains the major security principles, especially the questions concerning the activity of armed forces and we will keep working on it," K.Khalafov said.
In his turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov said that the common interest of Caspian countries is to provide peace and stability in the region, assimilate energy resources, create reliable and safe communications and improve an investment climate.
"Achievement of mutual understanding and agreement on all problems around Caspian Sea will allow to develop regional and international projects, strengthen mutual trust, peace and security in Caspian region," E.Mammadyarov said.
At the same time adoption of the Convention on Caspian Sea's legal status based on consensus is a priority affair for all.
"That is important in respect to maintenance of biodiversity of a rich flora and fauna and improvement of Caspian Sea's environmental condition. We pay an important attention to that Convention," E.Mammadyarov said.
Baku sees the solution of problems in constructive dialogue between littoral countries on the basis of universally recognized norms and principles of the international law.
"Some disagreements relating to the legal status existing at a current stage do not have to prevent Caspian countries to realize their sovereign rights in the region as well as multilateral and bilateral cooperation of the littoral countries," E.Mammadyarov said.
Azerbaijan considers important to keep on discussing delimitation of the seabed and usage of Caspian Sea water area for security, demilitarization, laying the underwater cables and pipelines, providing a free access to intercontinental Caspian countries to the world ocean as well as other conceptual issues.
"We support continuation of the bilateral talks with Iran and Turkmenistan for delimiting the Caspian seabed into the sectors and hope that existing legislative base and auspicious climate as well as mutual understanding will assist us to reach suitable agreements. Taking into account existing approaches of the littoral countries we have also prepared the project of agreement on interaction for the line of frontier, customs services and internal affairs bodies in the sphere of providing the security in Caspian region," E.Mammadyarov said.
