Richland police Tasered a Kennewick man wanted on outstanding warrants after he purportedly ran from them following a traffic stop today.

Police also reportedly found heroin on the man during his arrest. Police said Gary Earl Walker, 38, of Kennewick, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and on three outstanding warrants.

A Richland officer stopped a car at 11:35 a.m. at Williams and Guyer streets because it had expired license tabs and an obstructed windshield. The driver was cited and released.

Police asked the passenger to get out of the car while it was searched, and officers allegedly found drug paraphernalia under the seat. Police said they questioned Walker, who initially gave them a false name, and asked who the drug paraphernalia belonged to.

At that point, he allegedly ran from an officer. The chase went through the Uptown parking lot and across Jadwin avenue when the officer caught up and told the suspect to stop.
