Butler County Prosecutor Robin Piper's office will review a county sheriff's investigation that found an Oxford police officer was justified when he Tased a Miami University graduate who later died, Piper said Sunday.

Kevin Piskura, 24, died April 24, five days after officer Geoff Robinson used a Taser on him outside the Brick Street Bar. Oxford police said Piskura fought with Robinson and bar bouncers, and refused to back off after he was warned a stun gun would be used.

A life squad was called when Piskura began having trouble breathing.

Last month, the Hamilton County Coroner's Office said Piskura had a blood-alcohol level of 0.319, nearly four times the legal limit if he had been driving.

A cause of death has not been revealed.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office last week concluded that Robinson did not use excessive force or violate police procedures.

Piper said his office will take another look at the case. He expects to release findings of his review in about two weeks.

"We've been asked to look at everything in its entirety to see if there are any additional questions or concerns," Piper said. "We have an obligation to take the time to make sure we did this right.

"It's extremely serious to the Oxford police, to all of us in law enforcement and to this young man's surviving family members."

Oxford police requested outside investigations.
