ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police say a teenage girl taking part in a 24-hour bike race was severely injured after a grizzly bear attack.
The girl was riding early Sunday on a park trail when attacked. She used her cell phone to call 911 but was unable to communicate.
Another biker found the mauled girl around 1:30 a.m. and called police.
Medics were escorted by officers with shotguns into the dark woods to retrieve the girl.
