A storage tank at an energy well site caught fire in far south Caddo Parish this morning after it was hit by lightning.

The fire began shortly after 8 a.m. at a well site off Louisiana Highway 1 near Bunker Road.

There were no reports of injuries, although three workers at the drill site were evacuated, Caddo sheriff's deputies said.

Workers saw lightning strike the 300-gallon tank, which contained a mixture of salt water and oil, deputies said.

The fire has been extinguished.

The tank is owned by Questar Exploration and Production. Traffic on Highway 1 was not affected.
