Middle East Madness

The Israeli army says a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip fell next to a Jewish seminary in southern Israel and damaged the building.

No one was hurt in Saturday's rocket strike in the border town of Sderot, Israel' army said. A second rocket fell in the courtyard of Sapir College in Sderot, it said.

The rocket attack came a day after mortar shells fired by militant Hamas killed an Israeli man in an Israeli communal farm near Gaza.

Israel fired missiles at two Hamas police station in retaliation and killed five Hamas members.

Comment: Tragically (for BOTH sides) the killing continues, and so does the propaganda to back it up. On one side we have an invading 'army' (has such a nice legitimate ring to it, doesn't it?) stampeding across Palestine, destroying everything in its path, determined to exterminate the Palestinian people who already live there, whilst on the other side we have the 'militant' Palestinians who dare to defend themselves from the onslaught of this illegal occupation and campaign of genocide.

As can be seen here, 'militant' simply means ANYONE who is injured or killed by Israeli weapons. And that any action by Israeli militants is always stated as being 'retaliatory'.

"And we knew from long experience that, whatever had happened, the Israeli Defence Force would deny responsibility. This it duly did, claiming that its troops had fired only at armed militants who had attacked them at close range."

'War Between Worlds' - Ed O'Loughlin, Middle East correspondent
