This doesn't come as a surprise, but the fact that it was said out loud and didn't make the front page of every newspaper is a sad commentary on the state of the U.S.
Olver may believe this and the entire Democratic party may believe this, but it's completely illogical. Do they really think that a man/men capable of such actions will quietly walk away from their power in 2008? It's not going to happen, so they are simply postponing the inevitable and giving Bush/Cheney more time and resources to set things up exactly how they want them to be. I still contend they are all in it together - there is no Democratic opposition party and there probably hasn't been in my lifetime, if ever.
The Bush regime has already made it clear that they intend to bomb Iran. I agree that they probably have no intention of allowing another election. The only difference in how their plan might be carried out without impeachment proceedings (if this fear has any basis in fact at all) is that they will likely stage a "terrorist attack" on the U.S. that they can blame on Iran before the attack.

Kind of like what media headlines "say" often have little to "do" with the actual article content (that few bother to read).

This may or may not explain why they haven't moved forward with impeachment proceedings but if the Bush government would use it as an excuse to attack Iran and declare Marshall Law as a retaliation who's to say they (Bush Administration) won't end up doing this regardless? So Democrats are weak and powerless either way...what else is new.
