...that is to say, NOT a climatologist. Evidence certainly exists that suggests there is a definite natural element to the planet's recent warming. However the guy in this article seems to be suggesting that the warming is going to be ending in 10 years or so -- in other words he's suggesting the warming is a short-term phenomenon. Basically, he's thinking like a meteorologist, which is unsurprising since he is one. But climatologists study average weather patterns over much, much longer periods of time, extending into hundreds of millions of years. As such, they are better equipped to see things from a wider viewpoint. They therefore know about such things as abrupt climate change, something that apparently hasn't even crossed this meteorologist's mind.
Are you suggesting that Gore's warnings are correct then? If you read the flashbacked article "Dissidents Against Dogma" right below this one, you will see that it's not just meteorologists that are critical of Gore's theory.
