Refugee assistance
The refugee crisis in Europe seems endless, the arrival of people mainly from Syria, Libya, Yemen and Afghanistan to the Greek islands of Lesbos and Kos did not cease despite the strict controls applied by the European Union to prevent the exodus refugees.

Rescuers Arrested in Lesbos

On January 14 European sources confirmed the arrest of five European volunteers: three Spanish, Seville and members of the NGO Proem-aid; and two Danes Humanity Team to rescue refugees arriving on the island of Lesbos.

As outlined by the Spanish newspaper El Paรญs, at arrest, volunteers were heading to Lesbos three rafts plastic with several refugees when they were intercepted by the Greek coast guard, although officials found that there was no risk to people they decided to arrest the five rescuers.

Frontex officials said rescuers could be charged with assisting in illegal entry to the European Union of Refugees.

Telesur's collaborator in Spain, Sergio Rodrigo, reported that the three Spanish volunteers are firefighters from the city of Sevilla, Manolo Blanco, the Council of Seville, Julio La Torre and Jose Enrique Gonzalez, both belonging to the city of Seville capital.

The journalist said that the three Spanish citizens 48 hours remained detained incommunicado, Rodrigo said that volunteers were indicted by the Greek Justice of introducing people illegally.

Sergio Rodrigo detainees reported that rescuers were forced to pay a deposit of 5000 euros (5000 $ 659) and maintain an open process in the court of Lesbos.
