Hundreds of Takfiri militants are trying to cross the border to Turkey before they are hunted by the Syrian army in newly captured regions, specially the strategic town of Rabi'a, in Lattakia province. The Syrian army's engineering units are now defusing IEDs and mines planted by the terrorists in Rabi'a town and al-Rawda village after capturing them earlier in today.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured in heavy clashes with the Syrian troops in the Sunday clashes in the region as the army conducted massive assault to win back the town that is known as the second stronghold of the terrorists in the province of Lattakia. Meanwhile, the army is conducting mop-up operations around Rabi'a and nearby regions in a vast area that covers tens of kilometers of land to capture or hunt the remaining pockets of terrorists.

FNA reports from Rabi'a battlefield said frontline reports show terrorists are retreating fast and in an disorganized way, rushing to escape to Turkey. The winning back of Rabi'a town came after the Syrian troops seized back seven villages in the coastal province near the borders with Turkey. The Syrian troops entered the town from the west after killing tens of terrorists and injuring dozens more in fierce clashes. The army is now in full control over Rabi'a.

Also today, the Syrian army seized back the villages of Al-Shakeriya, Beit Ayoush, Kerker, Beit Avan and Al-Rayan villages in the Western part of Rabi'a. The Syrian army had besieged the Rabi'a region, the second stronghold of the militants in the Lattakia countryside from the West, South and North. On Saturday, the Syrian Army won back full control over a strategic village in the Northern part of Lattakia province.
"The Syrian army has pushed back the militant groups from the village of al-Tefahiyeh in the Western part of the town of Rabi'a and has stormed the militant groups' defense lines front three Southern, Northern and Western direction around the town," the army said.
Also on Saturday, the militant groups left behind dozens of dead or wounded members and pulled back the rest of their forces from more territories in the Northern parts of Lattakia province under the heavy attacks of the Syrian Army and its popular allies. The Syrian Army and the popular forces drove the militant groups back from their positions and imposed full control over the villages of al-Saraya, al-Jamousiyeh, al-Rayaneh, al-Qashmaliyeh, the mountains and the town of al-Amleik and the mountains of Barjaslieh and al-Mran.

The militant groups suffered a heavy death toll in the attacks and fled the battlefield to evade more casualties. The Syrian government forces have defused too many explosive devices planted in the battlefields by the terrorist group, and seized a large number of missiles, including US-made anti-tank TOW missiles.
