I imagine that was his response to understanding that our Earth periodically emits high energy from the core producing , first the Moon, when the Earth nearly broke apart, hesitations of one hemisphere resulting in enormous stress fractures in the ocean floor, cracks in the sea floor that precipitate continental breakups, massive sea floor slumps that release hydrogen sulfide and methane in life ending amounts, sunamis that overwash continents like the former Doggerland, volcanic ejections that deplete the underlying continental material allowing the land to sink, etc.
But then, where would we go? Our entire system is sun-fed. We cannot survive off Earth, NASA even installed a Schuman resonance generator--negative ions---on the ISS as it was revealed humans could not survive without it.
