Anders Fogh-Rasmussen painted red
Anders Fogh-Rasmussen, NATO war criminal, painted red in an anti-war protest in 2003
Is anyone else wondering what happened to the 12th NATO General Secretary, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, after his 5-year mandate ended this past September? Rasmussen was one of the most loyal high-level officials of the US-NATO Empire for more than a decade, so I thought it would be interesting to find out what a man like that does once he's out of a job.

My findings didn't surprise me. Rasmussen is set to continue serving the goals of Empire in a different, more profitable line of work. In other words, taking cue from former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former US President Bill Clinton, Rasmussen is now on the road to personal enrichment. The time has come for him to cash in on all the pain, suffering and death he had caused as NATO's civilian head in the operations of destabilization and the partial-to-complete destruction of the sovereign states of Libya, Syria, and Ukraine.

And so, just a day after his tenure in NATO was over, Rasmussen went into corporate business. He opened a geopolitical consultancy firm which aims to offer "strategic advice to governments, global organizations and major corporations".1 Somewhat predictably, the firm's name is 'Rasmussen Global'; nobody will be confused as to who the boss is. Its logo is, however, more surprising: it consists of a not-too-creatively stylized map of the world, with New York City (of all places) in the background:

Considering that Rasmussen was the Prime Minister of Denmark for eight years (2001-2009), one would think it would be more appropriate for him to use Copenhagen as a backdrop instead. But no, New York City is obviously more important to him. In fact, his preference is completely in line with the policies of the US-NATO Empire to destroy national sovereignty, both conceptually and in practice, so that the world may be ruled from one center only: Wall Street in New York.

The homepage of his consultancy website includes photographs of Rasmussen with US President Barack Obama in the White House, UK Prime Minister David Cameron (also in the White House, as if Cameron did not have his own residence at 10 Downing Street in London), UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon, who has proven time and again to be one of the Empire's favorite marionettes, and a photo of a Rasmussen's visit to NATO soldiers in the field.

There is also a photo with German chancellor Angela Merkel, but for some reason it's on a different page. Whether this is because Rasmussen considers her less important than the other three leaders because the EU should be subservient to the US-NATO Empire, or is a closet male chauvinist is not clear. In any case, he sets her apart from the rest.

Judging from the website, other leaders and parts of the world do not exist for Rasmussen. This is not surprising since, in his political actions, he has exhibited this attitude on countless occasions. Especially blatant was his insensitivity toward Islamic countries during the controversy over the publication of inflammatory cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, which appeared in a Danish newspaper in 2005 when he was Prime Minister.2

Much more than his immediate predecessor Jan de Hoop Scheffer, Rasmussen distinguished himself by an open and intense hostility toward Russia. Even before violent conflict flared-up in Ukraine, Rasmussen was one of the main fear-mongers and purveyors of the 'Russian threat'. He constantly stressed the necessity of increasing the military budgets of NATO countries and the construction of a US missile 'shield' in Europe. In fact, only two weeks before the Ukrainian coup d'état, which was logistically and financially helped by NATO, he expressed his boundless joy that the USS Donald Cook, one of the four naval carriers in the NATO Aegis ballistic missile system, arriving at its permanent station in Spain.3

This is why it should not be surprising that Rasmussen was awarded decorations and honors almost exclusively by those states whose ruling political elites at this time perceive Russia as an enemy: the US, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Ukraine. In fact, Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko awarded Rasmussen the Ukrainian 'Medal of Liberty', the highest Ukrainian decoration for a foreigner, a mere three months after his (s)election as President.4 There is bitter irony in that because Rasmussen directly contributed to Ukraine's fragmentation and its loss of territorial integrity. Instead of liberty, Rasmussen brought Ukraine civil war, sham democracy, bankruptcy and economic slavery.

Now, under the legal cover of his consultancy firm, Rasmussen will continue spreading his message of confrontation, war, and death. On his Facebook page, he cheerfully states that he is looking forward to having a lot of "customers". In fact, the use of this word is interesting. Apparently Rasmussen thinks of himself as an intellectual mercenary, a man-for-hire who will work for the highest bidder, no matter what his work can and will do to the masses of ordinary people all over the world.

It will be interesting to see who his "customers" will be. The way the global situation is going, the consultant Rasmussen can only hasten their path to bankruptcy.
