That's the wrong takeaway from the data shown, IMO.
What should be "expected" with winter is only that the ice extent should be in the upper part of the sinusoid (within some std. devs.). The fact that the extent is at a record is what is interesting, and tends to support (not prove, but strongly support) that solar-activity dependence plays a much larger role than what the AGW alarmists have been claiming.
I expect either a deafening silence about this from the AGW industry or another cockamamie story explaining why record Antarctic ice extent proves the correctness of the GW predictions they made.
