Guess what's under St. Peters!!! The temple of Romulus and Remus. Guess what's under the Basilica of Guadalupe! The Aztec shrine of Tonantzin.
Oh and that famous shrine of Guadalupe - guess what that 'miraculous relic' really is! It's a friggin' PAINTING. Nothing more than a PAINTING. It's not miraculous, it's not an Indian peasant's mantle, it's a PAINTING on fine linen. AND, it's been altered at least 3 times in the past. SO not only did the church supplant the Aztec shrine, they did it with a fake miracle!
The catholic church has merely co-opted earlier religious shrines and turned them into their piggy banks. Not news. It's been common knowledge for centuries. There are at least 16 crucified savior god-men in the history of religion. Catholicism is only the latest.
