The FBI arrested Jennifer Marie Vargas, 34, at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston for ripping and partially pulling off her 6-year-old son's genitals. Her reason? Because she was angry with him.

Releasing that she had "gone too far," she then used superglue to try to repair the serious injury, according to court records.

The FBI charged Vargas with "assault within maritime and territorial jurisdiction resulting in serious bodily injury."

Strangely, even with such an outrageous offense, she faces only up to 10 years in prison.

The child father who worked on the Army base, returned home from work September 27 and found the boy crying in an upstairs bedroom.

He saw bloody tissue in his son's underwear and the severe ripping to his genitals. He rushed the boy to the San Antonio Military Medical Center, according to the court affidavit.

"Due to the child's extreme physical pain, the medical staff had to administer medication. The child was taken into surgery to repair the damage to his scrotum," the affidavit said.

The 6-year-old is recovering and is in his father's custody.

Vargas admitted to federal agents that while she was angry with the youth, she "grabbed him by the scrotum and pulled him to her as hard as she could". The injury was caused, "thereby ripping his 'sack' and causing a laceration."

She tried to explain to the agents, however, that she was being responsible, as she cleaned the wound with alcohol and then thought she had mended the wound with superglue.

"She applied superglue to the (boy's) scrotum until the bleeding stopped, stuffed his underwear with paper towels, and then told him to go to bed. Vargas did not seek any type of medical treatment for the child."

Vargas was detained without bond pending a bail hearing. Prosecutors will argue that she continue to remain behind bars.
