LAURA KNIGHT-JADCZYK AND JOE QUINN
Since the 9/11 attacks, no book has provided a satisfactory answer as to WHY the attacks occurred and who was ultimately responsible for carrying them out - until now.
The reason these scientist don't think this is possible is because their very own consciousness is still dominated by the brain/mind; Overshadowed to put in another way...so they still do not understand what being in the moment is because they have not yet become aware of the moment.
Not having a conscious experience of being conscious purely of itself lends to their bias in their study; A self-contained loop of reference which they have not stepped outside of.
They still assume that the brain/mind creates one consciousness which is evident from how they frame their argument.
Living in the now does not exclude the future or the past....in fact when you really are living in the now the future and the past are all in the now...to understand this as an intellectual concept is fruitless and yes "dangerous", experiencing and living it directly is a whole different matter.
Amen to that brother!
The moment can not be 'known' it must be experienced. And that is why materialistic science will never grasp the liberation of allowing the wisdom of the Universe, or 'God' if you prefer, to guide your actions.
Jung described it as the Collective Unconscious and it is infinitely more intelligent than any one person could ever be.
That thought alone scares the bejeebies out of all those 'smart' scientists.
The key in discovering the moment lies in the way that we choose to focus our consciousness and the ability to embrace and ultimately ignore the ego.
It is a state of appreciating all that is around us and allowing the natural flow of the Earth and, by extension, the Universe to act in its appropriate fashion.
It has been stated on this site that the adoption of agriculture was the beginning of the fall of man, and I would have to agree. By 'planning ahead' and attempting to force Nature to behave the way we want instead of learning to accentuate and harmonize the natural rhythms of Life, we have upset the natural balance.
We have overpopulated the planet and are bleeding Her dry. We have poisoned Her air and Her seas. All of this has been allowed to occur because so many are so focused on their fears of the past and their hopes of the future that they ignore what is happening right before their eyes.
Unfortunately, this malaise is progressive. Each generation loses a little more of their awareness of the now and our lives become more and more complicated.
Now we are at the point that the majority of us allow our animalistic nature to rule in the now. We allow our egos, our materialistic selves, to stimulate our senses as our minds are caught up in thoughts of how we have failed in the past and how we hope to succeed in the future. Experiencing the moment is an exercise in humility. When one is truly experiencing the moment, one is in a position to impartially judge the whole of them self as one truly is. We only exist in the moment, as a whole being. We are not our future selves just as we are not our past selves. We are now and that is it.
By detaching from the materialistic self, consciously being, and allowing the rhythms of the Universe to influence our actions we learn that the material world is truly an illusion and that the only truth is consciousness itself and consciousness only exists in the moment.
One cannot say that I am currently thinking, or existing, in the past or in the future. Thought can only occur as you think it and you can only think it in the moment.
Linear models of consciousness do not apply to the non-linear reality of timelessness that is experienced as eternal Now. Meditation reveals this to some extent. Great Masters throughout human history report that meditative states can be cultivated to become the ever-present reality of the conscious being as Self. It makes sense to me when Self is described as context devoid of content (Dr. David Hawkins, paraphrased), in which case the context of Self is inseparable from the content of past, present and future, and wholeness is the only reality to be experienced.
So, if I read right, they are saying that to truly live in the now, we would need to shut off parts of our brain.
The new age ideal of "living in the now" seems ignorant. I suppose they are teaching people that to disassociate or suppress their past memories is worthy. Meanwhile, the past is something we must understand in order to know why we do what we do now!
