Update On The Legal Situation in France

Dear readers,

You may have noticed that we have removed articles and updates on the investigation of SOTT.net by the Toulouse Police.

Our motivation in publishing these articles, which included details of our interviews by the police and our analysis of them, was to express our frustration and dismay at being unjustly denounced as a 'cult'. Having had time to reflect on the situation we have come to the following conclusion:

We believe that our initial response to being, as we see it, unfairly accused, was both normal and understandable. However, we do not believe that we can reasonably justify directing our frustration at the Toulouse Police, or any other official law-enforcement institution in France.

In short, we are willing to take it on good faith, that in pursuing an investigation of SOTT.net, the Toulouse Police are simply fulfilling, in the normal procedural way, their duty to pursue an official complaint they received. As such, we would like to make it clear that we are willing to co-operate with the Police investigation in any way that is required of us, in the hope that our own good faith in this matter is duly recognised as swiftly as possible.

We trust we can count on your continued support.

take your body away. lock you up or even help you to have an accident - but - they cant take your energy away and that which you left. Congratulations - your latest move is perhaps the most logical one I have seen of late.

Have the past several months been an example of where "emotional thinking" has not served SOTT very well? There was a flavour of paranoia and prejudice in many of your pervious articles so I suppose it is logical to assume emotions had clouded your judgement - which is certainly understandable because of your close emotional involvement in the Jean / Marie domestic situation.

Curious though - I assume a lot money had been spend on your lawyers - only to find out that the police were just doing their job? Are you guys going to ask your lawyers for a refund? It seems even a basic lawyer should have known that a full scale emotional and premature internet campaign complete with "play by play" of facts of your case - was a poor strategy especially since there had been NO charges brought against you!

Sorry to sound harsh, but this "legal" conclusion was easily drawn several months ago!

However... Learning is fun... and I think this situation is not in vien as there is always something to be learned from our mistakes - especially regarding the psychopath angle of this... You certainly "outed" him - but perhaps a psychopath, contrary to what you though, cares not if he is outed with the "truth" but perhaps preferes to know that they have inflicted as much pain as possible on their target?? I would assume he is well aware you have expended countless 1000's? of man/woman hours and countless $$$ in legal fees essentially spinning you wheels regarding his police complaint.. Do you not think that Jean feels happy about causing you all of this pain and expense? Perhaps NOT falling for a Psychopath trap is a better corse of action in the future.

I think there is A LOT to be learned from this... Since the pervious articles / comments have all been erased from the site - perhaps SOTT could outline what if anything they have learned anything from this situation in an upcoming article.

This indeed is a fairly significant show of good faith, and purely that. Since now it would be very hard to say any more about it on your own news site, even if the above is not recognised appropriately.

It would be nice if there were more trust (and maybe one day there will), but trust and good faith seem to be all but eroded from the system today.

From my point of view, SOTT is an evolving medium - to bring "truth" to the surface. It's an accumulation of pain staking hard work, countless hours of mind boggling investigation, sorting out realms of dis-information from tiny speaks of truth.and gathering the information in a coherant format.

Yes, Knowledge PROTECTS! But where do you get "knowledge?"

Many of us, and the numbers have increased exponently over the past few years, have been fortunate to come across Laura's work, including Ark's ,in their respected fields of endeavor. The information has been freely shared.

Unfortunately, Our Planet has a History of "burying the Truth" by certain "elements" amoung us, who have a habit of manipulating for their own personal gain.

In the past, and even more so in the present time frame, those bringing :"Truth" to the surface and exposing what's behind the curtain, have been harshly dealth with. Laura is no stranger to their tactics, for this situation is just "one of many." But I think, what makes this situation more explosive - is the "timing and what"s on the line."

First off, SOTT is not a "Cult".Never has been! It's progressive work -evolving daily, based on research and accumulation of data. Nothing is set in stone, for the data can change with additional information - so it;s "open-ended"

I look upon the word "Cult" as a stagnet set of belief's, adhered to in a monolithic mind set of repetition, in a controlled setting. No room for expansion of knowledge or exploring other possibilities - just follow the leader and "do as I say" deal. God Forbid - you question anything.
Completely opposite of what SOTT.net is all about.

As for the "timing" of this "situation", many website's are experiancing "down time or completely being wiped off the net and their content stripped."

I could get alittle "emotional" if SOTT.net wasn;t in my in-box!

Accusations that SOTT is CULT is so nonsense , so opposite of what it is. Here we are talking about knowledge, about real science.
This kind of Psychopathy by the authorities is in every aspect in our lives today, in every part of the world . How easy it is

for some people to judge and criticize SOTT when they don't know what is happening beyond these internet pages. SOTT has not been acting "hysterically" and they are not "paranoid". They are doing what they need to do in this situation and I wonder how the very same people who have been so critical would conduct themselves in the same situation. It is very easy to make that call when you're sitting home behind your computer screen and not being faced with "THE LAW" in your face, in your computers, in your home and in your life, month after month. SOTT has always conducted themselves with courage, intelligence, grace, and self-control These people are not given to "paranoia" or hysterics. How many of us could handle the same set of circumstances and hold up under the strain so well?

I admire you, SOTT. and I know you're doing everything that you need to do. It is for not the place of anyone else on this internet to fault your actions in this matter. I think it was a great thing that the articles were written and the world could see what has been going on. I wish you peace, and hopefully that day will come soon.

the Law versus Ethics

Yes, the correct "legal" stance is to let the Toulouse police take out their clip board and follow their procedures for investigating the complaints lodged against you. Actually, you don't have much choice. And you are showing good faith in taking this stance. However, whether or not the Toulouse police will be ethical in their investigation is another matter. They can follow the letter of the law and still bend things around to the advantage of whatever agenda they are following, or have been instructed to follow.
Is one indicator of how ponerized a society is the degree to which the Legal system is divorced from an understanding of ethics?
I am prejudiced in that I have been through a similar situation in the US. The government body I was dealing with simply changed their own rules of investigation to suit the agenda they had decided to follow.
While I think the decision you have made is good, I certainly also hope that the articles you have published have reached a wide audience in France, and elsewhere. This too will make a good book in the end...

Usually in a legalistic society, you fight back by pressing charges and causing an investigation of the person who accused you and caused you to be investigated for something. Petty, but many times it does work in causing the other party to backdown or withdraw their accusations.

Also, it might be time to start planning a decentralized SOTT...

Yes, relief: I'm among those who'd found that SOTT's approach to the case against them was being quite counter-productive. I understand that feeling you're being wrongly accused can make you react "emotionally" and I don't know what or who made them change their stance but I welcome this wise and sensible decision.
I sincerely hope for the whole story to settle down and for SOTT to be able to focus on their cutting-edge work.

someone to please point out any specific instance in any article written by SOTT in which they are being "hysterical". These people are not kneejerkers and their reports are consistently well-reasoned, not emotionally- bouncing-off-the-walls. If you're going to make the claim of hysterics and paranoia, support that claim.

I guess this post is addressed to me and to one or two others.
My take on this is: we shouldn't start a debate on this matter, especially now that SOTT has removed the articles and expressed its desire to "take it on good faith" regarding the police investigation.
In the meantime, I'm sure they will keep their eyes open as well as keeping a record of every detail of the legal procedure and the details surrounding the legal procedure too.
Let's hope that their name will soon be cleared, then we'll be able to all give our opinion on how they dealt with the affair.

That said, and while your good faith is unquestionable, do not underestimate police bad faith, it might or it might be not "normal procedure"............it is what it is, whether they take sides or not, they are still doing it,

and as you mentioned in previous articles, they seem not to be interested in the true nature of the group but rather in proving it is a cult.

Referee always says, "give me clean fight, protect yourself at all times, obey my commands at all times, let´s do this"

There were many reasons SOTT.net was given the legal advice (that included removing articles and making certain statements) by their new Parisian lawyer.
Yes, it's LEGAL advice designed to protect them for reasons that most of us don't understand unless perhaps we are a lawyer, or a lawyer explains it to us. Let's try to leave it at that, and trust that SOTT.net is in good new hands, that they know what they are doing objectivley, and just continue to lend our support in every way that we can.

The best approach is to listen, understand then promote a clear understanding of what you are trying to achieve. Even the best strategist cannot beat the psychopath, so in some cases it is better to walk away and come back when it is safe to do so, only the lucky few can follow their true passion when incarcerated.

...a totally understandable and wise move - you have my full support. This is an amazing corner of the Internet filled with people interested in the Truth but also health and well-being. Nobody is forced to do anything and we are peppered all around the world. I'd like to see the investigators come to the same conclusion - it is in plain view.

Is there hope for France as a country? Will the local law enforcement agency live up to the principles of "Liberté, égalité, fraternité"?

I don't find updating a situation repeatedly as hysterical, if anything it gives you additional perspective. Which in turn may have lead to the change in strategy. Ultimately I don't think there is much they can do, so what if they think its a cult? Not like you can change their minds if their already locked in.

As someone else pointed out, the work of sott is open ended, it depends on new info...unlike any cult I've ever heard of. (christians, muslims, jews ect)
