Date of Sighting: 10th July 2009
Time: Sometime between 00.20am-0035am

Witness Statement: My neighbour (a nurse) and I were passing time of day/night, as he came in late, and I was weeing my dog on the grass outside the block of flats we live in.

As we spoke and caught up on our news, I looked up to a clear and starry sky and saw directly above us, a bright intense light (brilliant silver shine) so bright, I could not see inside it. It was unusual in shape, certainly no plane or helicopter. It was at about the average height the police helicopter uses, when perusing the estate.

I'm not a fool with aeroplanes since my late dad was an aircraft technician and talked and explained and showed us types of planes.

My neighbour and I both watched it, as it came directly over us, traveling from West to East, it was much faster than a plane, decidedly not a helicopter, it was silent, it had no landing, or take off lights (we live under a very busy flight path) and we discussed that fact, that it had no landing lights and that it was silent.

To compare this, I pointed out two planes high up in the distance, at different angles to us, one in the far north west, one in the far north east and though very far away and much smaller, both had flashing landing gear. One was coming in, and one was gaining height, and I remarked that this one had nothing. He agreed, was visibly shaken by what we saw.

I've seen UFOs many times in my much older life, but he never saw, nor gave them a thought in all his forty years, plus, what he saw, was very different to what i was seeing, even though it was the same object (though it would be much later in the day that I realised this, and compared notes with him) because, whilst I was looking with the naked eye, saw only a blinding light, moving at speed (not as fast as many I have seen before) he, was wearing shades flipped down on his driving glasses.

Afterward I realised, that just like two people looking at the sun with and without shades, people see different views, and that's when I needed to go back and wake him from his sleep (shift worker) and ask for his full version of our joint experience. Without telling him why I asked.

It occurred to me, he'd assumed I saw exactly what he saw and vice versa. It transpired that he never saw the blinding light, he saw a bright yellow sphere, with no lights at all and no glow, not even round the perimeter of it, whilst I just saw the glare.

I was angry with myself, no camera when I needed one. I willed it to stop and shouted at it "Stop, stop." and he nearly wet himself. He said "Oh don't do that, it might hear you." To which I remarked, seriously, and to his surprise, "It can, they can read our thoughts."

As he recounted his version of events, in front of another neighbour later in the day, he said, "When you shouted, it slowed and almost stopped, ever so briefly, it almost came to a standstill, (that's what unnerved him briefly) then, suddenly it speeded up again and was gone behind the other roof top."

I'd noticed that myself at the time, thought it was just wishful thinking, so I needed to hear his version, and without prompting, he said he saw exactly what I saw happen.

We were standing in the courtyard in the centre of the block of eight flats, four on each side of us, in two connected squares, in front of the main doors to the upstairs flats, open sky between the two blocks, where it passed right over us. It was just past the centre point when I shouted and it slowed briefly.

I saw it slow as if responding to me, and dare not tell him then, in case I had imagined it, but his verification and his surprise and his absolute certainty, made me ask him to witness it.

He said "I'd swear it on my son's life, I know what I saw." (I'm not into swearing on people's lives) and said, "Oh don't do that, just witness it."

I subsequently reported what we saw to the police during the same day and got an incident number, and later I called back to add the detail he saw, and they gave me the Whitehall number for the MoD UFO reporting line, and I called in and reported it to them.

I have many older sightings I can share, one in particular, in 1974, was proof positive to me (three craft) that intelligent life watches earth often.
