A 5.0-magnitude earthquake has just struck Los Angeles, reports CBS station KCBS-TV.

The moderate earthquake shook the Los Angeles area.

There were no immediate reports of any major injuries or damage.

A preliminary report by the U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude-5.0 quake hit at 8:39 p.m., about 10 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles, near Inglewood.

The quake jiggled the greater Los Angeles region and was felt as far south as Long Beach.

Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said there were no reports of any major damage.
