"Archeologists from Iran, Germany, Britain, Italy and France will study the northern mound of Sialk," said head of Iran's Archeology Research Center and director of the project, Hassan Fazeli Nashli.

"The northern mound is a unique site, where early Stone Age objects can be found in the depth of 12 meters," Fazeli Nashli explained to CHTN.

"The 5-year project will be a great opportunity to learn more about the origins of agricultural societies," he added.

The earliest archeological remains of the northern mound date back to the middle of the sixth millennium BCE, i.e. about 7500 years ago.
